This is cool. It looks like FUNi is looking to get that 3rd season that's coming out soon.

My question is, will this get dubbed or not? If so, there's going to be quite a few recasts, even if it gets outsourced.

You mean Code Geass? why recasts? they got pretty much all original VA's back for the akito OVA's that appeared in those from the original series. I highly doubt any of the main VA's will be replaced unless the VA themselves say no to doing it, which I highly doubt.

When they dub it then please stay real to the original dubs and dont do the way they did with the OVA using accents....

And im pretty sure that most VA will return for the movies and season 3.

I am not sure if I want/need to buy these movies, but it would be good to have the option.

Based on the spoilers from the movie goers, there are enough significant changes (not just details, but fates of several key characters) to warrant this a watch. Actually, I would say without watching the compilations movie, you will be very lost on the upcoming new TV series.

^ Thanks for the heads up. If they are legally streaming by then, I will try to check them out before the new season starts.

So no Steve Blum then, unless it gets out sourced to LA and even then it would have to be union. It's a shame really, the only new thing in the last few years that I've seen him in is Durarara.

I love it when Gundam: IBO's horrible second season release is mentioned as an afterthought for Funimation.

I think this is somewhat exaggerated. First off, at the moment there is nothing indicating that the movies will be particularly relevant to the sequel in a way that would replace the original series. That appears to be speculation and assumption, not fact, at this time.

It's possible, on paper, yet I could also imagine the upcoming sequel starting in such a way that it would be compatible with both the TV series and the movies. All they need to do is reference the main events that are common to both and either downplay or ignore the others.

There are indeed a number of new scenes in the movies, which are kind of cool, but the only character whose fate has been changed in any meaningful way is spoiler[Shirley] and there's still time to simply write them out of the story in another way during the third film. Not sure I'd consider them to be a "key" character though. Unless you're referring to something else, I think it's better to remain prudent here.

Seems very unlikely. He mainly does Saturday morning cartoons now and the odd video game like FFXV. Don't think he's actually been in an anime since Durarara.

He recently tweeted that he’s happy to get back to the anime scene since he’s in the FLCL sequels.

Funimation has outsourced dubs of their shows/films before (Nagato Yuki-chan, Bayonetta, Hellsing Ultimate, Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution for a more recent example) so it's no real stretch that they can do it for Code Geass. Plus their dub of the Akito OVAs is a pretty good indicator that they will try to bring back everyone that they can.

(And for the record Steve was recently announced to be in FLCL 3/Alternative so he's certainly not gone from anime dubs for good. Just depends on them being union and him landing/reprising a role)

Blum still does Naruto, so he should be coming back. Same for actors of his status like Laura Bailey and Crispin Freeman. I think the only actor who got “too big for anime” and is in Code Geass is Troy Baker, who would obviously be replaced by Matthew Mercer.

There's no reason they can't outsource this dub. Most of the LA actors have been in Funi projects before, outsourced or otherwise, and there was no issue with mixing casts for the OVAs. Unfortunately, we'll never hear Troy Baker reprise his role as Pain Schneizel, but Matt Mercer's always been an acceptable replacement.
