The end of the trailer also says PC, so there's the cross-play.

A little late there, Microsoft. Not sure many Japanese game fans even own an Xbone.

Watched the version shown during the Microsoft conference, it mentioned Windows PC in one of the displays on stage and in their trailer. Though if the PC version is only on the XBox Store or if it will show up on Steam or Epic's storefront is another question.

(Oh yeah, given they announced it as a "World Premiere" instead of a "Console Exclusive Premiere", there is a chance something like the Switch Cloud version being released down the line.)

My main concern here is that most the fans that would keep a game like this alive have already been playing it on the JP servers. We have hundreds, some have thousands, of hours in our characters. 0.000000000001% chance they let us transfer or anything like that, but it would be hard to convince us to switch to the US version. One easy way though would be to have a huge EXP and Itemdrop boost rate to make up for the the 9 year (at the time of release) wait .

If PC gets an official N. American release I'm down. I played the on the Japanese servers a while back and would definitely appreciate an official version to play.

No PS4? Seems like this title is too much for current era Sony Laughing . I wouldn't mind the cloud version on Switch coming westward though.

I was convinced the anime would get six seasons and a movie out in the US before the game got here.

This game's been out for awhile on IOS, Android, PS4, Vita, and now Switch(via streaming), so its not like Japanese gamers have no options.

The U.S. X-Box and PC release to me suggests Microsoft got an early release deal with Sega.

I believe this is the first Western release of PSO2. The game has actually been announced for a Western release before, way back in 2012, but that release was ultimately cancelled.

Maybe Microsoft pulled ala Nintendo saving Bayonetta - by helping fund the Western release of PSO2.

If PSO2 will be part of Microsoft's Play Anywhere titles, then that's how it's gonna get on PC too.

Sony wouldn't pay to bring the game to the west, this was a magnanimous move on Microsoft's part.

Update: Giant Bomb's interview with Xbox chief Phil Spencer:

https://youtu.be/7w-Ifxmqd5c?t=2255

Phantasy Star Online 2 Will "End Up on All Platforms," Phil Spencer Confirms

It'll eventually come to other consoles, and most likely to other regions like Europe as well

It's like when Microsoft helped out with Cuphead - Studio MDHR didn't have a lot of money, so MS helped out. But MS didn't require Cuphead to be on MS platforms only (Xbox and Win10) - it just came out there first because that's where MS can help them out

So it's the same here - MS can mainly help PSO2 out on XB1 and PC and N. America, so that's why it'll come out there first. After that, it's up to Sega to do the rest of the work on other platforms and regions where MS can't really help them out

(Though there's still the issue that: would Sega really do the rest of the work? Because for 7 years, Sega did not do the work. If Sega really wanted to bring PSO2 out to consoles and outside Japan, they would had already done it - they had 7 years to do it! Shows how much lack of confidence Sega has of the western release that they're just only releasing it in the west because MS is helping them out.)
