They changed the voices! Kenshin is now voiced by a man!

Noitamina? I would say it won't be very long then, but we have Urusei Yatsura being 4 cours. Still, kind of sad we won't be getting a new Noitamina show for possibly over a year in that case

Sōma Saitō stars in the series as Kenshin Himura, and Rie Takahashi costars as Kaoru Kamiya.

Oh, this feels like Genius Prince again lol. I liked their dynamic in that series.

So many anime series that could have been given a reboot to (where's my Shakugan no Shana anime reboot?!) and they pick this one. Trailer looks fine I guess, I'd be interested in it if not for the issue with the author. Sigh...

I'm curious though, was there a lot of desire among fans for a reboot? I was under the impression the original anime was pretty well received, though I could be wrong.

People love the old anime, but there was a good amount of people clamoring for a proper adaptation of the manga for years.

People really like the original anime, but like Shaman King, it never adapted the whole manga, which this new adaption will probably attempt to do.

Isn't Urusei Yatsura split cour? Maybe, Ruroni remake will air on April 2023 if Urusei Yatsura is split into two 2-cour anime.

The old anime improved stuff but also toned down the violence. They even created characters similar to 70s Gundam to appeal to a younger audience.

Yeah that's what I'm expecting, but RK definitely won't only be 2 cours so it's possible RK and UY might end up airing together all the way until the end of 2024

Yeah, it is split - but that also means RK is supposed to be splitted too even if it be like recent SK adaptation which cram way too much into single episodes.

Yes, I've longed for a reboot for many years. The entire story (the 28 volumes) deserves a good adaptation, ala Brotherhood. Well, I wish I was more hyped for the news, but it sucks to have the new series under these circumstances and feel guilty for being happy about it.

This is great news, man. I love this manga so much. The article does say it will "re-adapt the main manga series". I just hope that doesn't mean they'll do the Shaman King thing of rushing the first arcs just because there were already adapted in the original anime.

I also find it refreshing that they chose a male actor to voice Kenshin, since I never liked the original anime's Kenshin having a female voice actor. The animation looks pretty good despite the bunch of people who previously claimed in that teaser a while ago that it was gonna look shitty just because it was gonna be animated by Liden Films, as if this property didn't deserve the best production values it could get, or the production company was used to make low-quality stuff like One-Punch Man S2 or something.

This really does need a reboot/remake so I'm glad it's getting one. Get to experience my beloved Kenshin again and hopefully they are doing this to ultimately adapt the Hokkaido Arc sequel.

If by "one of these" you mean "person who cares about child porn and exploitation", then yes, I think you will find there are a lot more than "one" of these people here. I'd rather not derail this thread into an argument about the author's crimes, we've had enough of those on these forums already, and so there's a reason why I didn't even specify why I had issues with the author. But his actions ARE a thing, and they are going to have an influence on how people react to this news. Some will be upset, some will have mixed feelings like the poster above you, others won't be bothered.

If people aren't attacking others or otherwise breaking the rules, they are allowed to express their emotions and feelings over this announcement, including disappointment, happiness, or anything inbetween. So you can take your condescension elsewhere.

Watsuki is said to be supervising the entire scenario and casting of the adaptation and his comment indicates he approves of this adaptation, so I think it's in good hands.
