Yeah the characters controls are not very refined. I played a bit as Amy but got really annoyed at this one section where you need to go through a series of blue squares, it was just to picky on how you went through them.

We're expecting the brand-new voice actors for Sonic and Amy, but Roger Craig Smith and Cindy Robinson eventually became ''Harry Shearers in terms of video game voice acting''. Remember when Harry Shearer tried to leave ''The Simpsons'', but failed. Why Roger and Cindy remained as the voices of Sonic and Amy?

The only truly awful parts about the controls are Knuckles' gliding (the wide turns, the fact that you can't climb a wall unless you push up, and even then you risk climbing too fast and hitting a drop-off point) and Tails' lack of a homing attack.

From what I remember of the time, I don't think it was so much Roger and Co. wanting to leave their roles so much as it was a Sega decision where they randomly change up the cast every few years - those two in particular seemed pretty bummed about it. I don't think we even got an official reason why they were brought back, but there was a pretty big fan outcry about it so maybe that was part of it?

Sonic has had close to a dozen voice actors at this point. You would think people would have gotten used to the recasts by now. People who grew up watching the 4Kids dub of Sonic X probably felt the same way when the voice actors after the characters took over (sans Mike Pollock)

I'm lost on the chronology of the games. I gave up after Sonic and Knuckles on the Genesis. I know there's Sonic Mania which is a remix/best of with new levels? Then there's Sonic Origins which is a compilation game, but this one is a new game with some neat DLC. Hopefully we can get a reissue down the line with the DLC included.

That is what I remember about it. I think they ended up auditioning for the roles, and ended up getting them. It's not hard to believe that instructions came from the top to do it, and if on the English side they didn't want replace anyone, then doing that let them keep things as they were while technically complying with what Sega wanted.

From what I've heard, a similar thing happened at different points with Metal Gear where David Hayter would have to audition for some of the games up until the point where they recast a role without even telling him about it.

As far as I'm aware, the entire series is more or less linear. This game is the latest, and the first in years to take its own continuity seriously.

If anything is done out of order, there's that one episodic Sonic 4 game that's set right after Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and I suppose it's safe to say Sonic Superstars happens directly before or after Sonic 4.

Yeah the timeline is pretty linear it's the 2D games then the 3d games with Superstars taking place after Mania and before Adventure.
