I guess people thought that Xenoblade Chronicles would become the first Nintendo game to appear on PC and probably Xbox and PS5 when they saw that given the way that Microsoft games and Playstation console games are appearing on their competitor's console. I guess this dash away hope for a Nintendo game to appear on Xbox and PS5.

I've seen claims that over the course of the two days this was up, the name wobbled between it being the Definitive Edition or not, which implied active maintainence.
On the other hand, Xenoblade recently became a million-unit-seller for Nintendo, who had acquired Monolith, and even Nintendo underlined the Xenoblade franchise as a new pillar for their plans. I know a lot of people claim exclusives leave money on the table, but porting your games means people don't need to buy your consoles--which has always been Nintendo's bottom line. It's likely the article was AI generated and the LLM saw people playing emulated copies of Xenoblade on PC (and that editors at Microsoft didn't know it was a Nintendo property). |

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case given that Xenoblade is not that well-known compared to other Nintendo properties like Mario, Zelda, etc... But man, seeing Xenoblade Chronicles being listed on Microsoft's website must've surprised people and brought up hope that game would get an Xbox and PS5 port given the way how Microsoft's 1st party game titles have already appeared on Playstation and Switch too. I can tell you that Gears of War: Reloaded is coming to PS5 and probably the Switch 2 too (we don't have confirmation as of this post), and there's the report that Halo: The Master Chief Collection could come to Switch 2 also. So I guess people were putting their hopes up of a PS5 and Xbox port of Xenoblade Chronicles X. |

That would be incredible, I have come to love playing local multiplayer on my Switch. It fixes the screen size issues with splitting a single TV screen for several people and lets us share a room for gaming together without hauling a bunch of monitors or TVs out. Slightly off topic but I am excited for Game Share too, it's basically my favorite parts of having the local multiplayer and you don't even need more copies plus it can broadcast to original switches so we can continue having our little LAN parties with only a single SW2! |
