He lasted longer against Genichirou than I did.

More video game anime is interesting...
Out of all the soulslike games Sekiro was the one I liked the most and probably works best for story and anime.

I think Kenichi Kutsuna is very talented, and look forward to when he gets an opportunity to direct a project at a studio that isn't all-in on genAI like this one

Yes, the production company Qzilla is all about GenAI, it doesn't have to mean they are using it (I suspect it, the art style gives me kind of that vibe in some aspects in its rendering, but not inmediately judging) but it's a likely possibility, so honestly given that it's a serious concern for many of us (including many columnists here in ANN) I think the article should include a note indicating it so people can determine whether they are interested or not.

I was a fan of stuff like Sword of the Stranger and Blade of the Immortal back in the day so more violent samurai anime is always welcome. The trailer looked promising enough.

The art style (I assume you mean in regards to character designs) is just Takahiro Kishida's style.

Yeah, it's disappointing because even if this isn't series isn't using GenAI at all it feels icky to support a studio that I know will invest some earnings into other AI ventures. Thanks to everyone for pointing this out.

Anyone who’s played Sekiro knows that title is a lie. There will be many defeats.

Well, it’s not like the game’s subtitle is ‘Shadows Die a Whole Bunch of Times Trying to do the Boss Battle’ either.

Between this and Lollipop Chainsaw it's nice to see move non-gacha and visual novel video game anime being made. 've never played Sekiro since I'm not really into Soulslike games but it always looked the most interested to me out of all of them from what I watched people play.

It's the least interesting story and setting among the Soulsborne games but it's also the safest one to adapt given how clear and simple the narrative is. Also given that the game is 6+ years old, could this mean we are getting a remaster or sequel? If we are just following sales and awards, Elden Ring would have been the ideal pick. Anyway, I'm hoping this is successful enough to warrant anime adaptations of the other games, especially Bloodborne. Preferably with a better non-AI studio next time...

Elden Ring is already getting a live adaptation set in it’s universe.

Thank you Elden Ring for being the sacrificial lamb that gets the Hollywood live-action treatment so that Sekiro can get the infinitely more preferred anime adaption

Again, if the goal was to take the most recent & popular IP to milk it, Elden Ring would be ideal. Games getting live actions doesn't disqualify them from anime adaptations.
