Ooh a decent list.

I'm hoping Kakukaku Shikajika, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, A Silent Voice, and Mahou Tsukai no Yome to win here. Out of all the ones listed though, it looks like there are only two with anime adaptations; one of them being a movie.

The nominating committee is composed mainly of bookstore staffers who are in charge of their respective stores' manga. Any manga title that was released in 2014 and has eight volumes or less is eligible. The volume cap is intentionally added so that the prize winners would be relatively new works that have not already earned their popularity through sheer longevity.

Out of the mangas shown here, I recognized 2: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Koe no Katachi. IIRC, the former began serialization in 2012, while the latter in mid-2013.
One way to understand the aforementioned rule is that only mangas who started in 2014 are eligible for entry. However, other way to interpret the wording of that paragraph is any series with less than 8 volumes *and* was in active status during 2014.

Any way, there are a few titles who, while I haven't read them, got an overall praise for the Netizens (for example, Mahō Tsukai no Yome, and Boku no Hero Academia)

Always like seeing manga I plan to get/manga that had an anime adaption I enjoyed make these sort of lists. Nozaki-kun...would put up the manga if it ever gets licensed.

Will be buying A Silent Voice and Ancient Magus' Bride from Kodansha USA and Seven Seas, respectively.

Although I read most of these, I would still love to see Hōseki no Kuni win it all.

Rosario+Vampire Season 2 doesn't meet the requirement of under 8 volumes.

Great to see My Hero Academia getting more love. Shueisha were really lucky to get a success so close to the end of Naruto. Will be interesting to see how popular it gets in the coming months.

Pretty impressive list. I'd like to see Koe no Katachi win as a swan song, but there are two or three other worthy titles that I know, let alone the others that I am not familiar with.

I'm glad you mentioned this, I can't wait to throw money at Koe no Katachi, and I'll be giving Ancient Magus' Bride a look too.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi (The Town Where Only I Am Missing) is pretty amazing too (judging by the scanlation). It takes a little while to really get going (~4-6 chapters IIRC), but it most definitely does, it's a sort-of detective story. [/spoiler]

I hope for Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun and My Hero Academia to be winning here. Both are absolutely great!
