Plans to Develop Princess Mononoke Stage Play

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Research and Development to improve the Hayao Miyazaki adaptation.

The Whole Hog Theatre company, which created the stage adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, performed in London and Tokyo, posted the following message on its website. It is from Alexandra Rutter, who directed the play.

I am very excited to announce that we are putting Princess Mononoke back into Research and Development! We were extremely proud of our production at The New Diorama Theatre and The AiiA Theatre Tokyo, but know there are many people who didn't get the chance to see Princess Mononoke brought to life on stage .

The goal now is to use the R&D period to develop the show further, making it bigger and better than ever before! Already our puppets are being reworked, the set re-imagined, and Princess Mononoke's beloved characters more deeply explored through new approaches to script and staging. We've fallen in love with Princess Mononoke all over again, and can't wait to see what 2014 will bring!

Look out for news on this throughout the New Year on our website, Twitter and Facebook.
