Megadeth's Marty Friedman Brings Hard Rock to Captain Tsubasa

Marty Friedman has been busy in Japan since he ended his tenure as the lead guitarist of heavy metal band Megadeth. He's taken up residence in the country for the last decade where he continues to rock out on television programs and pen music articles in Japanese newspapers and magazines. He also regularly collaborates with Japanese artists and pop groups, like Momoiro Clover Z, and provides guitar for anime theme songs.

His most recent contribution is the new ending theme for david production's Captain Tsubasa soccer anime remake. The song "Moete Hero" (Burning Hero) is a cover of the opening track from the original anime series. The remake has used multiple versions of the song as the ending theme during its television run. The new version features Friedman on guitar and vocals by but this time with rock twist and vocals by Yūko Sanpei.

The various versions of "Moete Hero" will be released on CD with interspersed character track recordings on December 19.

Friedman's contributions to anime and tokusatsu theme songs and related projects are extensive. He performed and arranged Netflix and Production I.G's B: The Beginning theme song, oversaw translation for the Learn More English in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 2 textbook, appeared in concert with the cast of YuruYuri, performed the theme song for the Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Fourze & OOO: Movie War Mega Max film, had a cameo in the live-action adaptation of Detroit Metal City, and released a J-pop cover album that included renditions of Angel Beats!' "Little Braver" theme song.
