Viz Launches Web Release of Rumiko Takahashi's Rin-ne (Updated)

posted on by Egan Loo
Inuyasha creator's latest manga posted online in U.S. within a day of Japan

The North American publisher Viz Media has posted the first installment of RIN-NE, the latest manga from prolific creator Rumiko Takahashi, on Wednesday. The same installment was published under the name Kyōkai no Rinne in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in Japan on Wednesday. TheRumicWorld.com and Weekly Shonen Sunday will update with the same new chapter every week. The story centers on Sakura Mamiya, a girl who was able to see ghosts after a certain incident when she was young. One day, she gets a mysterious visitation.

Viz Media had announced that it will publish this manga in North America this year. The Shonen Sunday magazine had first revealed Takahashi's new series in February; she had ended her last work, Inuyasha, in the same magazine last June. Takahashi's earlier works include Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2, One-Pound Gospel, and Rumic Theater. Viz Media has been releasing most of Takahashi's manga in North America, and it has also released many of their anime adaptations.
