Canada's YTV Removes Naruto, Bleach From Schedule
posted on by Egan Loo
The Canadian television channel YTV has removed the Naruto and Bleach anime series from its programming schedule as of Saturday. The channel has been running repeats of both series ever since it ran the North American television premiere of the last 11 episodes of the first Naruto series late last year.
The channel is still running episodes of Pokémon, Pretty Cure, and Dinosaur King on Saturdays at 12:00, 12:30, and 1:00 p.m. EST/PST, respectively. Pokémon also runs on weekdays at 7:55 a.m. EST/PST. YTV licensed the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime series, but it currently does not have this anime on its schedule.
Viz Media has been streaming the final episodes of the first Naruto anime series and the latest episodes of the Naruto Shippūden sequel since January of 2008. That same month, the Cartoon Network ended its Naruto television run and Toonami Jetstream streaming service in the United States, although its main website continues to stream selected episodes of Naruto. The Naruto Shippūden sequel series has been running on the Disney XD channel in the United States since October. The Cartoon Network will televise four consecutive episodes of Bleach starting next Sunday.
