Akemi Takada, the anime character designer of Urusei Yatsura, Kimagure Orange Road, Maison Ikkoku, and Patlabor, will stream a live drawing session starting at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday in Tokyo (2:00 a.m. EDT). Takada will be drawing an illustrated shikishi (art boards used for autographs) and coloring some pre-drawn artwork.
The live drawing session will mark the opening of Mami's Magical Star, a premium shop for apparel and goods based on the Magical Angel Creamy Mami anime. The fifth floor of Tokyo's Shibuya PARCO Part 3 store will host the shop for a limited time from May 15 to May 26. The shop will also exhibit original designs and key pencil drawings that Takada personally drew for the production of the Creamy Mami anime. The first 100 people who spend at least 3,000 yen (about US$32.00) at the shop will receive a ticket, and Takada will sign autographs for 20 of them on May 23.
Last week, Masayuki Ishikawa, the manga creator of Moyashimon and Junketsu no Maria - Sorcière de gré, pucelle de force, began streaming his manga drawing sessions live. As of 3:30 a.m. Saturday Japan Time (2:30 p.m. Friday EDT), he is drawing at his table.
Update: As of 4:00 a.m. on Saturday Japan Time (3:00 p.m. Friday EDT), Ishikawa has stopped drawing for the day, but he will resume drawing during the day on Saturday.
