The anime studio Sunrise announced on Wednesday that the television anime series Keroro Gunsō (Sgt. Frog) is ending "for now" in March. After seven years of broadcast, there will be a series finale special that will air in Japan on March 26, followed by a second special airing on March 27 in the TV Tokyo broadcasting area only.
Since last year, Sgt. Frog has been airing for only 15 minutes on Saturday mornings in a timeslot shared by SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors. An extended 30-minute version would then air on late Sunday night (early Monday morning) in just the TV Tokyo broadcasting area. However, the March series finale will be a half hour long in the Saturday morning timeslot on TV Tokyo's network affiliates and one hour long in the late Sunday night timeslot in the TV Tokyo area.
For further developments in the franchise in April and beyond, more information will be provided in magazines and online.
