Sakura-Con announced this past week that it will host Japanese voice actress Kotono Mitsuishi and Chrono Crusade creator Daisuke Moriyama at the April 22-24 convention in Seattle.
Mitsuishi has performed in dozens of roles, but she is arguably best known for her role as Usagi Tsukino, the lead character in the Sailor Moon anime franchise. (The character's name was changed to Serena in the English-language version.) She also played Misato Katsuragi in the Evangelion franchise, and she is currently playing a mascot sprite named Hamii in the ongoing Suite Precure anime series.
Daisuke Moriyama created the popular manga Chrono Crusade. Japanese animation studio Gonzo adapted the series into a television anime which is now running on the American Syfy television channel after Funimation's acquisition of the title last June. Moriyama's original manga is currently unlicensed in North America after the closure of ADV Manga. Dark Horse Comics licensed Moriyama's more recent work, World Embryo, in 2008 but has not released it at this time.
Sakura-con will also host the premiere of Bandai Entertainment's English-language dub of the television anime K-On! and its voice actresses: Stephanie Sheh (Yui Hirasawa), Christina Vee (Mio Akiyama), and Cassandra Lee Moriss (Ritsu Tainaka). The actresses will perform a mini-concert prior to the premiere.
Other announced guests include artists VOfan (Bakemonogatari novels, Oreimo episode 12 ending illustrations) and Jo Chen (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Runaways, Street Fighter comics); North American voice actors Clarine Harp, Christopher Bevins, Tiffany Grant, Chris Cason, Cynthia Cranz, and Wendy Powell; and musical guests exist†trace, Berryz Kobo, DJ Saiyan, Spunk Da Bunny, Sixh., Dj Blade, and DJ Rize.
