Crunchyroll to Simulcast Deadman Wonderland Action Anime

posted on by Gia Manry
Adaptation of Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondo's manga to stream 1/2 hour after Japanese broadcast

The media distribution site Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will simulcast the TV anime adaptation of Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondo's manga Deadman Wonderland in the following regions: North America, South America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Netherlands, Portugal, Middle East, and Africa. The simulcast will be available to premium users 30 minutes after the series begins in Japan, while free members will gain access to the episodes one week later. The series is currently scheduled to premiere in Japan on April 17 at 1a.m. Japan Standard Time (April 16 at 9a.m. Pacific Standard Time).

The manga's story is set after the destruction of most of Tokyo by an earthquake and centers on Ganta Igarashi, a middle school student framed for the murder of his classmates. Igarashi is sentenced to Deadman Wonderland, a bizarre privatized prison that is one part incarceration and one part public spectacle for tourists. A solicitation revealed the anime adaptation in 2009, and earlier this month Kadokawa Shoten announced that the manga's limited edition 11th volume will be bundled with an unaired original anime episode.

Tokyopop is currently releasing an English-language version of the manga.
