Hikaru Midorikawa sings, stars in latest from This Boy Can Fight Aliens!' Yamamoto

The production company CW Films began streaming an animated music video clip for "Umi yori Aoku" (Bluer Than the Sea), Hikaru Midorikawa's theme song for the Kono Danshi, Ningyo Hiroimashita. (This Boy, Picked Up a Merman.) anime.

The anime is the second Kono Danshi (This Boy) project from independent animator Soubi Yamamoto. The 29-minute anime is going on sale on DVD in Japan on Friday.

The story follows a high school boy named Shima Kawauchi (played by Yūki Kaji) who is wrapped in his own grief. On the day he loses his grandfather, he goes to the beach to cry by himself and almost drowns when he slips. He is rescued by a beautiful young man named Isaki (Midorikawa) — who happens to be a merman.

As a 21-year-old, Yamamoto made her scriptwriting and directorial debut last year with the first 28-minute Kono Danshi anime, Kono Danshi, Uchū-jin to Tatakaemasu. (This Boy Can Fight Aliens!). Her first anime had its international premiere at New York Comic Con last October, and Sentai Filmworks licensed it for North America.
