Kurozakuro creator recounts historical tale of teen warriors in Boshin War

Manga creator Yoshinori Natsume will start his White Tiger ~Byakkotai Seibu Kaitaku Tan~ series in 2013's third issue of Grand Jump manga magazine on January 4. The story centers around the Byakkotai, the real-life samurai unit composed of teenagers from Aizu in northern Japan. They fought in the 1868 Battle of Aizu in the Boshin War, the revolution that helped spell the end of the shogunate's rule over Japan.

Natsume ended his Togari Shiro supernatural action sequel series last year. In North America, Viz Media published the eight volumes of the original Togari run from 2007 to 2008, and then launched Natsume's Kurozakuro series last November. Natsume also drew the Batman: Death Mask graphic novel for DC Comics.
