Blade of the Immortal's Samura to Launch New Manga

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
New manga announced at end of Hiroaki Samura's 19-year-long series, planned for mid-2013

The final chapter of Hiroaki Samura's Blade of the Immortal manga in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine is revealing on Tuesday that Samura is planning his new manga series. He thanked the readers for their support, and wrote that he is striving hard to launch his new manga in mid-2013.

Samura is ending his historical manga Blade of the Immortal (Mugen no Jūnin) manga this month after 19 years of serialization. The manga launched in the same magazine in December of 1993, and its first 29 volumes have 5 million copies in circulation.

Dark Horse Comics published the 25th volume of the manga in North America in August. The manga inspired a television anime in 2008, and Media Blasters released it in English.
