The official Tumblr account for Adult Swim's Toonami block announced on Wednesday that the block will begin running the television anime Naruto Shippūden in January. The sequel series based on Masashi Kishimoto's ninja manga will begin on the same day that Adult Swim premieres another television anime, Space Dandy. (Adult Swim is premiering Space Dandy before it airs in Japan, although the exact date is still to be determined.) The Toonami crew added that its Naruto Shippūden run will be uncut.
Episodes of the first Naruto anime will stop running on Toonami on November 30, but the staff notes that it is still streaming in several venues. The Disney XD channel began running Naruto Shippūden in October 2009 with edits.
Viz Media publishes the original manga and also releases the DVDs of the anime adaptations.
