Yūsuke Kobayashi, Rie Takahashi, Yumi Uchiyama, more star in adaptation of light novel series

The official website for the Re: Life in a different world from zero (Re: Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu) television anime adaptation revealed on Friday that the anime will premiere in April. The website also revealed the show's staff, cast, and a main visual (pictured below).

Masaharu Watanabe (Wakaba Girl director, episode director for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) is directing the anime at Studio White FOX. Masahiro Yokotani (Maria Holic, both seasons of Free!, SHIMONETA: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist) is handling the series composition, and Kyuta Sakai (Steins;Gate, Sankarea: Undying Love, Humanity Has Declined) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director.

The show will star (Note: Characters' name spellings are not officially confirmed):

Yūsuke Kobayashi as Subaru Natsuki
Rie Takahashi as Emilia
Yumi Uchiyama as Puck
Chinatsu Akazaki as Felt
Inori Minase as Rem
Rie Murakawa as Rum
Satomi Arai as Beatrice
Yūichi Nakamura as Reinhardt

The site previously streamed a teaser for the anime in July.

The anime is inspired by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrator Shinichirou Otsuka's light novel series of the same name. In the story, Subaru Natsuki is an ordinary high school student who is lost in an alternate world, where he is rescued by a beautiful, silver-haired girl. He stays near her to return the favor, but the destiny she is burdened with is more than Subaru can imagine. Enemies attack one by one, and both of them are killed. He then finds out he has the power to rewind death, back to the time he first came to this world. But only he remembers what has happened since.

The series has inspired three manga adaptations. Kadokawa published Daichi Matsue's manga Re: Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu Dai-Ichi-Shō: Ōto no Ichinichi-hen (Chapter 1: Day at the King's Capital Edition) in Monthly Comic Alive and shipped the second and final compiled volume on March 23. Square Enix publishes Makoto Fugetsu's manga Re: Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu Dai-Ni-Shō: Yashiki no Ishūkan-hen (Chapter 2: Week at a Mansion Edition) in its Big Gangan magazine. The first compiled volume shipped on March 23, and the second volume is slated for December 22. Kadokawa also publishes Re: Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu Dai-San-Shō: Truth of Zero (Chapter 3) in Monthly Comic Alive and will release the first compiled volume on December 22.

Yen Press will publish the light novel series and the manga in North America.

Kadokawa shipped the seventh light novel volume in Japan on October 25.
