posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
NHK announced on Wednesday that NHK Educational will air a new series of anime shorts titled Cara to Otamajakushi Shima (Cara and Musical Note Island, or Cara Tama) on April 2. The series will star Yū Serizawa, Wataru Takagi, Wataru Hatano, and Masayo Kurata.
The anime is set on the titular Musical Note Island, where the god of music is said to reside. The island is home to "instrument animals," who are born from music energy, and have parts of their body composed of a musical instrument. One day, a witch arrives at the island. The warrior girl Cara must go on a journey to defeat the witch and win back the peace on the island.
Kiminori Tanoue (Line Offline Salaryman) is directing the anime at 33 Collective. Kenji Terada (first three Final Fantasy games, Kimagure Orange Road, Dirty Pair) is penning the script. Hidehiko Kado is designing the characters. HY is performing the anime's theme song, and is also handling the music alongside Daisuke Kawaguchi.
The anime will premiere on NHK Educational on April 2 at 10:15 a.m., but it will have an advanced airing of the first five episodes on March 29 at 12:00 a.m. (effectively March 30 morning). The series will have 40 episodes that run for five minutes each.
