| Bakemonogatari (TV) | Worst ever | Pandering harem schlock done up with bells and whistles in an attempt to distract the viewer from its hideous true form. Too bad the bells ring hollow and the whistles are shrill. I rate this particular piece of pandering, harem schlock lower than other examples because of A) its attempts to disguise its ugly nature with 'artsy' maneuvers which are bereft of meaning, and B) the fact that so many people have fallen hook, line, and sinker for its siren call. No, internet, this is NOT the most intelligent, deep, and meaningful series of 2009, let alone the decade, let alone ever. This is a show which wallows in every trope, character cliche, and rank fetish which bloats anime, and then has the gall to wink and pretend what it's doing is clever subversion. It is anything but. |

Every aspect of this series has been done before, but I'm still kind of entertained when I bother to watch. Used to have this as "So-So" but I like Orihime so much that she alone has pushed it up to Decent. |
