I read an old article from 2 months ago that the Japanese government is planning or has planned to ban scenes of graphic violence, sex acts, etc., in anime, manga, and games. I am new to this art, but how do others feel? Since children read this media, maybe that is a good thing.

would that mean stuff like When They Cry dose not get made?
What about Shana season one the two in love bother and sister pair. would they then be gone? What about death in anime? Robotech was one of the few shows to have floating bodies in space after a ship was attacked. Is this to much? Where are the lines and how would they affect whats made and out there. Would Elfen lied ever be made? These are tough questions. how about a rate system? wait they have one already! |

The Question is still the same what will happen to these TYPES of anime. do they just go away?
that would be sad. also a voice lost. |

Nothing. They will be censored if they air on TV, like most of them are anyway and if you are a Japanese citizen you'll have to prove you're of age to buy the effected materials. That's basically it.

I also believe they won't be able to drop the F-bomb without giving a two minute warning on screen prior to the word being said.
They're still aloud to say fanny but only if they slip it in there as a line from a typical Japanese stereotype saying something like "that's not very fanny". |

Chillyice: I think you're referring to Ishihara's 156 bill. A recent ANNCast mentioned it, and it while it doesn't ban the presence of "inappropriate material" in manga/anime/video games, it does have the effect of stifling creativity by only allowing G-rated material to be displayed in full view of customers in stores.
Nothing was outlawed, but it carried implications of sheltering children until they turn 18. |
