We, Without Wings - Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai (TV).
ANN wrote:
Plot Summary: It's winter in the big city of Yanagihara, and young people will meet and fall in love. Takashi is a boy who plans to escape to another world, but is held back by thoughts of his younger sister Kobato and girlfriend Asuka. Shusuke is a poor part-timer who has to work with student-author Hiyoko in spite of their initial dislike for each other. The antisocial Hayato makes his living as a handyman until he is visited by a girl name Naru.

That plot summary doesn't explain much. Basically it looks like a rushed story with a bunch of minor stories coming together and forming the anime.

The first story covers a guy whose pheromones already got him a harem. I'm sorta envious, but I don't see any yandere around (on this part).

The second story covers a middle aged barman who wants to get laid with a young lady before his marriage, some guy who clearly has no luck with girls, and another who acts cool and pretty much nothing else. There are two girls around them, but hardly much to be known besides the fact that one of them has what it takes to be an annoying stalker.

And the third and last story (unless I'm already missing something) is about some fella who calls himself a handyman and really reminds me of Durarara!. He comes across a loli who seems to sexually tempt adults and a black guy who is clearly not Japanese who claims that Japan is full of pedophiles.

In other words, this is a mess filled with fanservice and cute girls above all. And this absolutely NSFW link with a part they forgot to censor. Uncensored version will be awesome, huh?

If anything this sounds like Demon King Daimao and Durarara! blending together. I expected full harem, so I'm still not sure whether be disappointed or what.

Either way, this is gonna be fun.

How confusing was the first episode, straight away I am thinking "oh it is one of those harem anime with a sterotypical lead who just seems to get the girls with the smell of his large bishounen gland." But then sudenly we are thrust into another story, where what I must asume is the leade of that story acts like a sterotypical harem lead's best friend (you know the type). Except the guy who prsumably has a harem there can and does treat the girls like soiled garbage and gets away with it.

Best one was the last guy, did very Durarara, and I found the conversation with the black guy and foreign loli, got a good laugh out of her spoiler[showing how adult her panties are and the guy responding that japan is filled with pedaphiles.] Despite how disorentating it was I finally got a feel of what it might be like, we go back to the first guy, and all of a sudden he says spoiler[he is from some dimension or something]. Cut to an ED of spoiler[fantasy and magic,] Confused how insane is that, it almost feels like some big troll.

And correct me if I am wrong, but was that Kyon's voice actor as the narrator? Regardless the whole narration of this story in general is strange, might be a bit ambitious but compare it to a certain other series with a simulary confusing first episode, kind of looking forward to what they pull next.

No it's not Kyon's VA doing the narration.

person#63638

I happened to like the first episode of the series, even if it was a bit confusing. I don't think I have seen so much in your face fanservice in such a short amount of time, but the spoiler[yellow tape] was outright distraction to see.

Well I am follow this one to the end.

I enjoyed it, was expecting a harem for one guy, but that turned out to be wrong. I'm quite interested in the multiple stories that is being developed.

My favorite part of the episode has to be the one with the little girl. She spoiler[flashes her undies (lol) and was supposedly wearing adult undergarment. Funny. Then she proceeds to discussing a perverted topic including a monster behind the zipper and kitties.] Had my laughs from that.

It's confusing what direction they're going for, and the ED makes it more confusing.

O, I watched it for the plot*... and because it has cute girls.

*Strangely, the plot reminds me of Amagami SS in some way. Winter, meeting, and falling in love.

Hmm, I guess that does it. Seems like it'll be quite fun, and I suppose it's safe to expect the same level of entertainment from every episode.
Didn't think it'd go this well, because I heard so much pessimism about it. Sure, with this many characters 1 episode represents almost nothing, and considering it'll be only 12 episodes. But I'm kinda worried about its sales doing bad and the franchise getting stuck here.

Episode 2 was a bit more interesting to the say the least. I didn't think that spoiler[the fanservice could be upped before the OP] but I guess I was wrong. The fanservice as a whole was toned down a bit from epi 1 and I liked what I saw as a whole. There still might be some potential for it be at a B grade series at the end if it does some more development.

This series in a way with having three male leads reminds me of Boys Be... except with harem elements added, fanservice, and better looking females.

The lack of discussion must mean this show is unpopular. Am I the only one here who's watching it?

Well, I manage to catch up to watching Episode 4, and I have to say, it's intriguing now.

It turns out that spoiler[the main characters so far, Chitose and Dora, are actually one body. It's reveal at the end that three souls inhabit this body. The schoolboy dude for morning, Chitose for day, and Dora for night.] That is an interesting plot twist. What's interesting is in the OP, there are 4 angels (girls) flying, and there are spoiler[three souls in the body. Is there a 4th soul? Also, prior to each episode, the fanservice scenes reveal the four females, and two of them are actually revealed so far. There's the "girlfriend" and sister (who made an appearance) who have yet been revealed.]

The comedy works well enough to make me chuckle but I'm really liking the show so far. Episode 2 and 3 were both, ehh... Further development of the "arcs", I guess, but they still made me laugh.

Yeah, I'm still watching it, that last twist has got me invested for a couple more episodes. EmbraceMe, the four main females are Asuka (the girlfriend), Kobato (the sister), Hiyoko (the writer), and Naru (the little girl). Atleast I think that's right, this show can be confusing as hell.

I have to admit your spoiler intrigues me. I stopped ep. 4 about a third way because I couldn't see it was going anywhere but that is interesting. Guess I'll have to check it out afterall.

Episode 6.

Looks like a 4th appeared in episode 6. The whole situation surrounding this one seems to be a LOL Heroes parody.

Pretty much all of this is spoiler.

I have a hard time keeping all the character's names straight. You have the jerk friend of the Shusuke Chitose who has three personalities too, one of which is Naru Outori's (the love interest of Hayato "Dora" Narita personality) brother. There's supposedly five personalities all together in the protagonist, the Haneda Takashi who dates Asuka and thinks he's Hawk Cyanblue, Shusuke Chitose, Hayato "Dora" Narita, the guy who thinks he's king of the made up country (and whose love interest is Takashi-personality's sister Kobato), and the little boy who is supposed to be the REAL owner of the body, Kobato's REAL brother and is referred to as the "run-away king".

At this point I think there's some kind of really traumatic experience stemming from the character's childhood and all the personalities and fantasy elements are in his head. I think Takashi is probably closest to his real personality as he 'escapes' into the fantasy world whenever he's confronted with a situation in the real world that is difficult. Although that doesn't explain why another character also has multiple personalities.

Would it be safe to assume that the majority of people jumped ship a long time ago?

Fundamentally, Ore-tachi ni tsubasa wa nai is a very poorly-executed anime, yet I’m still fascinated by many of the concepts it exemplifies. The interweaving of a multifaceted plot structure with the customary goofy hijinks of the typical harem show is a concept that intrigues me in theory. I say in theory because Ore-tachi really has done a poor job implementing both elements into a cohesive narrative. Yet, one has to hope that another director will be up to the task of trying to implement these virtually diametrically opposed narrative models into a story that does not drive away the majority of its audience before the meat of the plot begins to unfold.

Furthermore, I wish more harems would copy Ore-tachi and explore the copious opportunities for sexual misadventure that the post-graduation urban environment provides. Similar to how the majority of viewers can relate to the sexual misunderstandings that the high school environment creates, the urban neighborhoods which are populated by people in their early twenties experiencing their first taste of freedom from school and the restrictions of parental control would also make for an ideal location for a harem show.

I'm still watching it, I don't know why, but about everything captivates me. I like the characters and the interaction they have. The most interesting aspect about the show are the main characters. The main characters share the same body but the different females they interact with see them with different faces. The plot is strange and I still don't quite understand but still, I find it a enjoyable show that way. I don't understand the appearance of that guy who thinks he's a king. He didn't seem to play any significance besides the comedic acts that followed her as well as communicating with the true personality. There's one or two episodes left so it doesn't seem like anything will be explained. At best this show will probably get a Good for my rating.

I like it. Like everybody else I was confused at the beginning - but not necessarily in a bad way; more of a "hmm, I wonder how this is going to come together" way as opposed to a "wtf, this is pissing me off" way. The ecchi in the show is one of the stronger of the season, so I dig that. I like the humour and characters and now that I know (or think I know) what the "deal" is, it is a lot less confusing.

Am I childish if I was scared at the beginning of the final episode?

Ok, final eppie discussion.

I like how this concluded, at first I really disliked it because spoiler[my favorite characters were gone and replaced. The end actually explains what the fanservice segments were at the beginning of previous episodes.] There are a few things I am disappointed with though. First the introduction of the self proclaimed king, he was introduced and then thrown off without much view time. I wished to have seen more of that. The best parts about this show would be the character interactions and characters. The character interactions were comical and the characters were entertaining.

This show isn't that bad, it's pretty entertaining. It's not like a mediocre harem but a "harem" that has twists.

Yep, this anime is gonna get a Good from me.
