I know it sounds weird,but I once saw scenes from a Macross movie.The characters were speaking in english while japanese subtiles were at the bottom of the screen.
(If I have posted something like this before I may have forgotten.) |

It was probably because in the original japanese, the characters were speaking (bad) engrish, lol, and needed the japanese subs to translate.

In the beginning of Sakura Wars (OAV), there were members talking in English, Russian, and Shanghainese. Of course that would require Japanese subtitles.
Slightly OT: Urara Takano's spoken English, although still has room for improvement, is one of the best among seiyuu. |
