In recent news about Suncoast returning all manga inventory, I was wondering where do manga fan on this board buy their manga. Do get get them: Onlinestore? Bookstore like Barnes & Noble or Borders? Electronic store like Frys or Suncoast? Comic Shop? Ebay?
I buy most of most of my manga online (usually at TRSI) as it seem because the you can definitely find better prices than you do that the store. Also the book are ship in new condition, and it's conviently deliver to my doorstep. I use to buy some of my manga at some anime store near my house, but I hate paying taxes and dealing with otaku. There are three comic shops in my area which are independent and small. They carry a modest selection and their prices are almost always MSRP (but sometimes they include the tax). The atmospheres in these shops are pleasant.
Amazon, has a huge selection and have good prices, however, sometimes it works out to be equal to local shops because they charge full taxes. Whenever possible, I try to buy from the local shops, but I do not go out of my way to ask them to order stuff for me. If they have it, fine, if they don't, I head online. |

Yeah, I'm aware of that poll, but this thread let people voice their opinion such as why they choose the place to buy their manga. Also this topic discuss about Suncoast returning all their manga inventory for people that buy their manga at suncoast. |

I buy at book stores like Barnes and Nobles and Borders because I can't browze around and see what looks good, etc.
Also i don't have to wait for shipping to read |

I have always bought my manga online, usually from Justmanga.com (because I have company loyalty) as it is almost always cheaper than in store and I am a patient person. I used to shop around for the best prices online like I do for textbooks, but I decided I like my manga new rather than used and getting deals when I buy multiple volumes.
The only time I buy in store is when I forgot a birthday present and need one fast. |

Waldens or Borders but only when I have a coupon. I generally like Waldens better because it's closer.

Mostly I go to Borders, but sometimes I go to a local game store to get Berserk. The Borders here seems to take a while getting Berserk on the shelves for some reason, while the game store often has it a week or two sooner.

I shop for manga at Walden's. They have a decent selection and carry all of my favorite titles. I don't have to worry about manga loitering there because it's a somewhat small store and I rarely ever see any other manga fans shopping there because manga still isn't very popular around here, so I don't have to worry about dealing with annoying fans. The staff there is always friendly and it almost feels like home there because I've been shopping there reguarly for the past three years. I also like how they sometimes have their buy four, get one free deals on all paperback books, which includes manga, and I have their prefered reader's card that lets you get discounts on books when you earn enough points from buying books. They even have this nifty card that's for manga only where you get one checkmark for each manga you buy, and when you get eight checkmarks in total, you get $10 off on any manga. So, even though Walden's does sell manga at the retailed price, they almost always seem to have some sort of good deal going on.

I usually just buy my manga at Borders, and I got a couple off of Amazon. But I really like Borders because I like looking around and seeing what is new. Also they usually give out savings when you buy a book, so that is nice. There is also a small comic/manga store near where I live too, so I enjoy going there sometimes. But do you know why Suncoast is returning all manga inventory? I bought a couple there before and they always had a pretty good selection.

I just recenty started purchasing manga, but I can tell you I prefer buying it online in contrast to a physical retail store. Every now and then I'll go to Barnes & Noble, but like darkhunter, I buy most of it from TRSI.
A lot of the time when I go to B&N the manga I'm looking for have been read by other people. And because of that, sometimes their are giant creases in the cover, bent corners on pages, or a bunch of greasy fingerprints. TRSI easily solves this by ALWAYS sending your manga in shrinkwrap. Aside from all of their Viz titles, TRSI also has lower prices than most SRPed manga. |

The bulk of my translated manga has been purchased from Barnes & Noble, Borders, or Waldenbooks. I like having the ability to browse, and through coupons and preferred reader options I can usually get the books at least 10% off cover price. Sure, sometimes the volumes may have been flipped through by other customers, but I haven't seen signs of mistreatment to the volumes.
However, since the number of series I enjoy keeps increasing I am looking into online purchasing alternatives since it will be cheaper overall. I'll still use the brick and mortar stores for previewing purposes, though. ~Shadrach Anki |

I just ordered some manga from them the other day and it seems that only Dark Horse and Tokyopop titles are cheaper. Viz, Del Rey, CMX, and DMP (Robot at least, I didn't look at their yaoi stuff) are all the SRP. Of course, if you have the Got Anime membership, they will all be 10% off. I foolishly purchased my Got Anime membership with DVDs that won't come out until April, so I won't get that discount for a while. |

I'm fortunate that I have two local anime shops that I buy anime and manga from. I also have 2 comic shops that have very good manga selections.
I don't know what I would do if I only had Suncoast/Media Play to get my manga fix from. |
