I was tryng to add this anime to the encyclopedia after i couldn't find it listed, but i get a message that said:
"This is not an anime, contact our encyclopedist etc" or something along those lines Do I have to enter a specific code or something when adding an anime? Can someone help me out? |

You can't add it because Avatar isn't anime. It's got some obvious anime influence, but it's not anime.

Um...the message says that the show isn't anime, so you can't add it into the encyclopedia. "Avatar" is an American show that has some influence of anime-styled animation but is primarily made by Americans for American audiences. It's the same reason why the encyclopedia doesn't have entries for "Totally Spies", "Code Lyoko", and "The Boondocks". |

It's an American cartoon. Influences for the show included Taoism, Buddhism, Chinese art, Japanese animation and Asian live-action films. Probably why some people think it's Japanese.

i just found the alternate post about the same question as mine animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14512 animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23089 our Japanese cartoons themselves were origionally influence from American culture - one could even say they are made to mimic American culture yet everytime i happen across the topic on an English board, there seems to be a huge disatisfaction among westerners of western cartoons that resemble Japanese made cartoons this is why i find your remark "obvious anime influence" humorus, it criticizes something created in the west for resembling something created in Japan that was created to resemble something created in the west |

According to your reasonings, we should not call Blacks "African Americans" but should call Whites "Europeanized/Americanized Africans" instead, because all human beings have a common ancestor in Africa. Gimme a break. |
