If I'm not playing a game on the computer, babysitting, going to school, eating, or sleeping, I am downloading anime, or scanlations. Umm... >.> at school I run an anime club too, so lunch breaks it's mainly stuff to do with anime, like watch something if there's enough time. Umm... yeah, I have no life. My friends who I see mainly at school only have to come and drag me away from my computer if they want me to do anything with them.

Every other weekend, I go to House of Anime (local anime shop) and rent a whole stack of DVDs. This weekend I picked up Read or Die and the last four volumes of SDF Macross.

If I were to die, my computer would come with me. *My little window to the world*
If I'm not so-called living, then I'm either downloading fansubs or scanlations. I know, I deserve a lashing. I read mostly manga than I do books. My friends are the only ones that are capable of bringing me out into the world. Pathetic, you say? Naw...I love it.

I don't think watching bundles of anime makes you hard core, and especially bragging about it all the time like some people do makes you sound like a snobby elitist. I think calling yourself hardcore is just silly, maybe saying you like it alot as a form of entertainment. But hardcore just makes it sound like you are trying to be better than everyone else.
To answer the question I don't know if I'm hardcore, I go to conventions, buy anime and anime related stuff, if that makes me hardcore I don't know, but that's my answer.

I agree. Japanese is hard to learn. There are like 100 different ways to say 1 word and you have to know when to use it. Formal informal stuff. Pronunciation is easy for me.

I dont mean the term to mean eletist I just want to know how much anime everyone watches.
And if you go to conventions like you say, and you buy anime (not just a couple of dvd's, or vhs) then you are hard core to answer your question.

I would drive over an hour one way just to get to rent anime. I've done that plenty of times.
However, I would not call myself hardcore. To me, saying that your hardcore means that you are obsessed and need to find sometbing else in your life. There is so much more to life than just anime/manga!

My babysitting income doesn't make me capable of owning lots of stuff. Mainly just saving up for cons. Doesn't make me any less of a fan though.

I traveled ~ 200 miles (round trip) to see Princess Mononoke in theaters when it was first released "locally".

I'm not.
At least, I wouldn't classify myself as such. I watch less than 5 hours a week, on average. I spend more time on internet or playing games than on anime.
Of course, that is now... before I went to Japan and rolled around in the stuff, I was much more freakish... Japan had a moderating influence on me, I guess.
Oh, and Japanese isn't hard to learn. Hard to read, write, yes, but not hard to speak. The best thing to do is focus on grammar, first, and then vocabulary. Learn how to construct sentences on your own rather than learning rote phrases and the like. The tourist phrase book is a students worst enemy...
If you have any language questions, you could PM me and I'll see what I can do.... no guarantees and I won't do your homework, but I'll try to help out if I can...

How hardcore am I? Well let me put it this way: I should be studying for my midterms yet here I am posting on this message board . If it was up to me I would've watched much more anime than I watch now (which is not a lot).

I love reading manga, watching anime (any kind), and reading anime magazines. I started watching anime when I three years old (wow ). I've seen the old speed racer cartoons (you couldn't get me away from the tv ). I love drawing my own comics . I watch adult swim (only the anime part). I know alot of anime titles (Watched most of them). I've been to an anime club. I also been to anime conventions. All I talk about with my friends is anime/manga. I love to collect (manga, dvds, vhs, yugioh cards, pokemon cards, etc.). What can I say? I love anime! My bro says I eat, drink, and dream about anime. I'm also trying to learn japanese. It's confusing.
