I noticed in my previous thread that not a lot of people are obsessed with anime then tell me this how many of you have anime as your biggest or one of your bigger hobbies? because I thought that usually hardcore otaku come to sites like this. Confused

[EDIT - I can't imagine how I let this slip. Locked. -C]

Anime is my biggest hobby right now. When I was younger, video games used to be my hobby.

Anime was my biggest hobby, until it became my job. Now, it's work.

My biggest hobby now is Lord of the Rings. I've simply crossed geek state lines, but I haven't left the geek country.

Anime is a hobby for me, but not so much because, only getting fifteen dollars a week (sometimes if I'm lucky I'll get a little more), but, I can't really get into it. Writing, drawing, and playing music are my bigger hobbies because I can do it myself (and fairly cheap too Very Happy ). So, until I can get more money then just my lunch money saved up, I'm stuck.

OT Alert: Zac (or anybody,) you might wanna check out Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast Trilogy; I'm in the middle of it, and it's the other great 20th century fantasy trilogy.

I've also heard good things about Guy Gavriel Kay, who helped Christopher Tolkien edit the Silmarillion before writing his own books.

Aaron: I've seen it, with Christopher Lee and the guy who plays Uncle Dursley in the Harry Potter flicks as the chef, right? Lame BBC special effects but definetely a solid story. My vote for 'the other great fantasy trilogy' would go to His Dark Materials right now, but I'm not done with it yet. Once I see how the ending goes, I'll cast my final judgement. Word is New Line optioned this to follow the Rings with, so I lept on the novels. So far it's good stuff.

Oh, I forgot there was a BBC miniseries-I was talking about the books. I can't speak for the series. There was a BBC Radio version with Sting playing Steerpike, but I don't think it's available.

What's His Dark Materials?

I don't understand the aim or purpose of your question. It is most obvious that people here (while maybe not obssesed with anime) are gonna list anime as one of their bigger or biggest hobbies. Your questions only makes for a redundant and boring topic. Why don't you try asking your question differently.

Can't agree more, if people like anime so much that they are going to actively participate in an online forum, they have to like it alot. People wouldn't post at a star wars forum unless they really liked Star Wars, same goes for anime. Most answers will end up being one liners that don't provide any insight into something about anime or anime related. Except for a few good answers these types of questions just eat up bandwidth.
