When Funi refreshed their site last month or so, we were prompted to change our passwords.

So this breach may be a non issue since I dont think anyone could still be using the old passwords that would have been compromised.

So was this breach hush-hush for over half a year or is this simply a much-delayed article regarding old news?

EDIT. Nvm, sounds like it was just usernames/emails. Bad, but nothing to panic about.

Wait, so this happened months ago? I did have a Funimation account for a month or so until Funi and Crunchyroll did that deal, then I got an email saying my account was cancelled. I guess I have nothing to worry about then.

The article tells you what was there (its right under the title, and if you click the site it tells you)

I have a Funi account and haven't had an suspicious activity with my connected method of payment, email, or had any other accounts letting me know of suspicious behavior thankfully. Funi should respond to this in the least. Also can you link to something about your news tips?

Worrisome and quite frankly unacceptable if that does end up being the case, and looking at the current atmosphere around FUNi lately (shitty new website, apps, etc.) this news couldn't have come at a worse time.

I was first notified of the breach last week by Have I Been Pwned?

Guess I luck out since I apparently created my account last November, though it's completely empty anyway. The kicker is that I went to attempt changing my password, but I'm getting an error message because my current password is under 8 characters...yet I obviously need to enter my current password in order to change to a new one. That's some good programming there, FUNi.

The problem is that many people reuse passwords. I use unique passwords but some of my older accounts still had the same one for quite a while. Someone tried to grab my Steam account a few months ago - I figured they got my password from the LinkedIn breach but given that it was more recent, it may have very well been Funimation. Sad

Frankly, funimation should've released a press release about the breach and should take hell for not telling their subscribers about it earlier and at least tell them to change their passwords immediately. That's like basic PR and simply inexcusable and will just hurt their brand in the long run.

Honestly between this and their "revamped" streaming site and apps that don't really work well at a consistent level, they are really having a rough year and as much as I love funimation, they need to get their act together before things get worse.
