I haven't played a new DOA in a while, but DOA holds will never not be fun. There's no better way to silence a button-masher than to reverse his over-aggressive attacks.

I think the backlash comes from saying "We tone it down a bit" and at the same time removing Kasumi (as far as we know) emblematic costume to a new one that doesn't even let you see her fingers or neck, like... That's not "down a bit" that's going from 100 to 0 so of course fans would be shocked!
This is not a porn game, of course, it's a fighting game but let's be honest... Have you ever hear of tekken, soul calibur, guilty gear or any other fighting game taking such drastic measures? when Street fighters started "censoring" what they did was to change the camera angle... But anyway, I 've heard that some of my concerns are because they're moving to a new engine so not all the features can be shown right away, I want evolution and new features of course I love DOA I just don't want drastic changes or feel like they're embarrassed of their own past.

It's definitely unfortunate messaging. I didn't really get why they would even talk that way and rile people up, when they could just go in that direction and say nothing and probably be fine, but I guess since DOA5 went from "I'm a Fighter" to "that game with 5 years of bikini DLC no one takes seriously anymore", they wanted to set out a mission statement. Hrrmm.

I wasn't super interested in the game, but there was a demonstration at Evo which was pretty impressive...and nobody watched. "Just add a super meter" seems to be the big new innovation in 3D fighters, so that seemed less than inspired, but they do seem to be paying attention to using DOA's systems cleverly again - I am quite pleased to see they are not shying away from stage events here.

Also, all things considered, while Kasumi's new outfit is definitely quite a change from the original...I'm with the interviewer here, I mean, it's still a skin tight catsuit with heels.

I haven't played any of the Dead or Alive series, but Kasumi is fun to play as in Warriors All-Stars, and I definitely like her fighting style. Haven't tried Honoka or Marie out as much in the same game, but they all play like they do in their series of origin.

Just slapping high heels on a body covering outfit doesn't make it sexy. She's not showing any amount of skin and is more or less wearing a burka. Considering her iconic outfit involves a ninja outfit sporting cleavage, legs, and thigh-highs, it's a huge step down.

You can still block and reverse. That's what is still what's most common. Holding is very hard against a good player as the timing window is short and options many (if you're coming from DoA4 then I get you, the holding in that game were broken). DoA5 did it verywell though, so I am expecting DoA6 to work well too.

Yes especially with Soul Cailber being that all anyone has ever complained about is the bust sizes and outfits of Ivy, Cassandra, & Taki none of the other games though we're developed with the same gimmicks in mind as DOA was.

Seems kind of fruitless to boycott a game that like it's predecessor will have copious amounts of DLC to quench your thirst for breasts, butts, & thighs.

Oh JC.. Were the rumors really true?! **** him if so. (that he pretty much alone pushed this crap through) Either way, this is a dangerous time for artistic freedom in gaming and what do they go and do.. act like they are caving, giving prudes, ideologues and other wannabe totalitarians, what appears like a victory. Especially after the bullshit caving they did with xtreme 3 a few years back.. SMH

Yeah, to me Kasumi's new outfit is just a different kind of sexy; I'd call her old outfit "cheesy sexy" while her new one is "classy sexy". But in all actuality, are we seriously going to pretend that her original outfit won't be available in some form? We all basically know it's going to be at least an alt outfit if not DLC.

How I see it as that all possible kinky outfits will end up beeing available for 100+ $ through the duration of this game as DLC.
They say it will be toned down, probably the main outfits.
Remember when they had issues for players picking too much revealing outfits in live broadcast tournaments?
Well these tournaments won't be having an issue now.
But since he said there will be more things to show,I guess fanservice will still be there.

It will be interesting to see how well DOA6 sells after Team Ninja made such a big deal about getting rid of the fanservice. That they are replacing it with blood and sustained wounds is such a complete 180 degree turn for the franchise that it is unclear who their target demographic is supposed to be. They think that violence is a better way to sell the DOA franchise but I question whether that is true when other fighting game franchises have a reputation for it.

I don't really hate Kasumis new outfit but I don't like it either; as an aside Kasumi doesn't really have the butt to pull off a skin tight body suit.

I don't think this change is necessarily because they believe that violence sells but just taking the more logical and realistic step of showing what happens when people get punched or kicked in the face. I mean if you're going to show characters dripping with sweat or drenched from coming into contact with water it just makes sense the show the physical wear and tear one would have from getting into a fight.

The game is due out in early 2019, they still have a few months left to reveal some kind of content that will give fans a reason to get excited.
