Excited for Virgin Punk, and now I want to explore more of Umetsu's work.

But wait a minute: Did you just say Galilei Donna is out of streaming?

Man, if it's possible to hear audio from a screenshot, then that shot of Revy is it.

Aw, for some reason I thought Virgin Punk was going to be a TV series. I hope it's one of those cases where a TV series first gets screened as a bunch of compilation movies before getting aired/streamed as weekly half-hour episodes, like the Yamato and LotGH remakes.

I understand this was once a popular sub-genre, starting around the time Gunsmith Cats came out, and ending around the time Bee Train completed their "Girls with Guns" trilogy. Take all that with a pinch of salt, it's not something I've researched or anything.

It's not mentioned here, but Umetsu also directed and animated the ED for largely-forgotten, mid-00s, slice-of -life/comedy Girls High:

Girls With Guns has always been a defining subgenre of anime.

And I really hope next week is how "I Digimon Aventured Into the Pretty Cure world of Magical Doremi"

My introduction to Umetsu was the 1994 Gatchaman OVA series, where he was the character designer and animation director.

Let's not forget the time Gwen Stefani's group No Doubt used Kite for their "Ex-Girlfriend" music video, especially the infamous bathroom fight scene

Maybe I'm just nostalgic for them, but I think the sex scenes in Mezzo Forte still remain some of the best ones made to this day.
