Is there an isekai Crunchyroll won't dub?

They haven't (English) dubbed "Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss But I'm Not the Demon Lord" from the winter 2024 season. That one came to mind because I was rewatching some episodes earlier today. |

This anime is not an isekai. It's a simple fantasy story. And to answer your question: Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World Drugstore in Another World Summoned to Another World... Again? The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire And so much more. I stand corrected. Thank you. Nevertheless, a lot of these light novels that originated as Naro Web Novels end up having the same type of trappings as isekai without necessarily being an isekai. My overall point is that Crunchyroll these days dubs a lot of series like this or guaranteed hits instead of, I dunno, deeper cuts. |

I feel like there are so many other, more popular, series they could go back and dub...like undubbed Villainess anime's...Pseudo Harem...but I imagine this probably did decent numbers as the usual generic fantasy anime.
Though I guess this is also the kind of show where a lot of VA's cut their teeth a little. |

As much as I liked this, the show has been over for two whole seasons already, which is forever in anime-land, so why do this now? If ANN readers are even somewhat representative, this finished 36th out of 43 and I can't imagine a dub now would get more viewers (unless they are angling for an S2) and like others have said, surely there are better shows they could dub...I'll watch it, but it isn't high on my list relative to this season's shows...

Remember when Crunchyroll doing stupid things by not dubbing popular ones like Bocchi the rock or a sequel Like Love Live Superstar, LOGH DNT S4, Youjo Senki Movie, Gridman Universe. |

I said this elsewhere, but the handling of things like dubs and home video releases is all over the place for them these days. For a simuldub, it is understandable where they maybe overestimated a show and dubbed something that was more of a dud. It also makes sense if they get surprised the other way and something outperforms and so they go back to it. But I doubt that is what we have here. Also, what you said about when this is happening is relevant. Personally, there is a good chance that this will get buried under keeping up with other current shows, and be one of those things in my watchlist that I'll "get around to eventually." |
