That is totally a redone Sonia canonized as Trevor and Sypha's daughter. Also interesting he's now Trevor in Japanese as opposed to Ralph. Anyway, glad to see the franchise return after a too-long absence. Konami has said they also have other projects in the pipeline, so looking forward to those

PS, they're totally gonna roll some stuff from the animated series into the games, so get over it now

Not just Trevor, they also keep saying "Castlevania" in Japanese instead of "Akumajou Dracula". That's unusual since the last time they tried that, Japanese players hated it.

I really hope the mention of the animated series is just to try and draw in that crowd and increase sales, and not an indication that they're actually going to pull that story into the games.

Which wouldn’t make any sense to do.

Konami making a new Castlevania game? I must be dead.

I’m grateful to the collections for bringing in new fans, but it’s about time we got an all new game.

So the protagonist of this game would be the son of Trevor and Sypha? Who'll later become Juste's dad?

Also, what curse is the title referring to?

The timeline getting more confusing is natural I guess.

I really enjoyed the Vastlevania event in Dead Cells so this is really cool.

Regarding the animated series influence, at best it will be like how Capcom takes a lot of things from Street Fighter II The Animated Movie. They incorporated the things they liked but the movie itself is not part of Street Fighter's storyline. With Netflix Castlevania there's no choice but to do it that way because the storyline is too different. That's why Castlevania Nocturne's storyline was not Dracula X. It's impossible to tell Dracula X as is in that universe. If they even attempt to do Symphony of the Night it well be vastly different too. I imagine it will be about Alucard fighting Shaft as a final boss in Albuquerque and calling it a night or some other nonsense like that.

Well, first of all get the timeline right. This is in 1499, Juste isn't around until the 1700s.

That was my thought as well. According to the old timeline (if it's still canon), Trevor and Sypha's most direct descendents (presumably their children) are Ann (who married into the Morris family) and Frederick. If Belmont's Curse takes place in 1499, that's 23 years after Dracula's Curse, so it's way too soon for Dracula to resurrect. I'm thinking the playable character is Ann and the villain will be Frederick, who broke bad. The titular curse comes from there being two active Belmonts with no Dracula to fight, so they're doomed to fight each other, as so often is the case among video game siblings.

Oh, I didn't know that this was being done by the Dead Cells team. Makes sense though after the recent collab since I heard it was well done and well received.

Should be interesting to see how this compares to Igarashi's Bloodstained.

People were saying DMC6 was rumored to be announced in the State of Play and it'd be based on Adi Shankar's Netflix series. Well, they got it half right... it was just Adi Shankar's Castlevania instead. I guess this is the Monkey Paw's doing for all the people begging Konami for a new Castlevania game.

Not a fan of the art style and zoomed out view. Definitely just looks like Dead Cells and lacks the gorgeous artstyle the games on the DS had. The music also seemed very lacking but that was true for the Netflix series too.

I hope Garry Chalk returns as the voice of Count Dracula.

You mean the portrait style art that was relegated to dialog scenes (which we don’t know if this game will has or not)?

Pretty sure the music you heard was not in game.

No I mean the in-game graphics. I loved the sprite-work of the games. Sidescrolling games that have low-poly 3D graphics in a 3D background always look really awkward to me since I'm so used to gorgeous 2D graphics and spritework.
