The character designs looks like the staff making this isn't even trying anymore.

Really loved the first season. Am happy that it's getting a second season finally.

Awkward-looking animation aside, I knew a second season was inevitable with the way the first season wrapped up.

Was not confident this one would get a second season, but I'm not disappointed. The character designs on that key art are a little concerning, though.

A second season isn't unwelcome, but did they intend for the designs to look so cartoon-y?

Oh hell yeah! I wasn't sure if this would ever happen (considering Cloud Hearts went under, plus the rarity of Kodansha Lanove Bunko sequels in general), but I'm so happy to see this series come back! And it's being done at Zero-G? Absolute chef's kiss!
By the way, a big detail missed by this article: The official website also confirms that There will be a new manga adaptation as well starting up soon! Also titled "The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World II" It's being drawn by Nao Kagami and composed by Ishiya Ōgane. It'll be serialized on Nico Nico Manga under the Wednesday Sirius label. https://hyouken-anime.com/#anchor-books
Oh, absolutely. There is a new character designer (Mariko Kawamoto) alongside the change in studio, but this cartoony and slightly off-looking aesthetic is 100% in-line with Masahiro Takata's vision for this show. If you understood the goofy charm of what he was trying to do with Season 1 in a similar regard, then these character designs should be a massive hint for the absolute treat we're in for with Season 2 at Zero-G. Iceblade Sorcerer's anime adaptation has always been about being a small production taking full advantage of that position specifically, and he did that really well at Cloud Hearts (there's a reason the show caught on and people saw the unique charm in it), and I think Zero-G is the perfect studio with the resources to let him cook for this sequel. (Heck, I'm watching both Farming Life 2 and Klutz & Skirt this season, so I'm quite confident in this studio's ability to manage a show to maximize its strengths, lol.) |

Very nice, I really enjoyed S1 & hopefully S2 will be just as enjoyable as well. Hopefully the ENG dub cast reprises their roles also as I really enjoyed their performances, especially Kevin D. Thelwell as Ray and Alexis Tipton as Amelia.

I'm sure the English dub cast is more than willing to return for season 2. Aside from Kevin and Alexis, I'd like to hear Macy, Kristi, Sarah, Emi, Molly, Natalie, Monet, Christopher, Cliff, Kristen, Dusty, the works, in their roles once again.
Hopefully, we'll learn more about that girl from the end of the first season (is she really Ray's younger sister? And if so, why/how were they separated?). But I'd also like to know the following: Will we see more development in Ray's relationship with Rebecca? What came of Ray's relationship with Carol before he joined the academy and why couldn't he stand her being his teacher? Will he finally accept her? (clearly, she was only trying to be friendly to him when they first met) How will Amelia's family view Ray? Will we find out more about Claris? Are there (legitimately) worse enemies out there than Evan Bernstein (spoiler[was made out to be])? |
