Okay look, I’m probably the only one very happy about this… but genuinely how? If Ramparts gets a season 2 as well, than this company that filed for insolvency at the start of the season is renewing all 3 of the shows it’s currently airing. And they have a trailer with footage. Snowball Earth season 2 is a real thing that is being made. What miracles are they working? Maybe I just don’t know enough about the industry.

I'm assuming the initial contract was for 2 cours. That would explain why they already had in-production footage to show. It was decently popular in Japan as well, if the ratings are anything to go by.
The show didn't exactly set the world on fire (ha-ha), but I wasn't as negative on it as the reviews here. Old-school shonen adventure, wouldn't have been out of place in a seasonal lineup 20 years ago. Heck, after writing that I'd just tell people to go watch Gargantia On The Verdurous Planet while you wait, it's a better take on a similar formula (warrior and his wonder robot end up in a very different version of Earth than the one we know).

The music of the series has been good as well, sounds like the same band that did the music for Kaina of the Great Snow Sea.

I'm out. Despite some grievances I had from the beginning, the first season actually started quite promising. Unfortunately it completely fizzled out with a terrible bad guy, and nothing in the trailer for S2 brings back the interest I had at first.

Maybe I just don’t know enough about the industry. | Obviously you aren't nearly the only person who liked this and unfortunately we all don't know the deep details of the industry enough to predict some things. But you can bet the reason for an S2 is either prior arrangement or there were enough views to indicate it had some popularity and it's all about the money.
There have been several shows in the last decade that I liked and other commentators and reviewers here were sh*tting on that gave the impression that I was the weird one, only for a dub to get announced only a few episodes in and they got second seasons, so CR knew something I and they didn't and that was the shows were popular actually. Take heart!
That being said, I thought the show was awful myself and dropped it by Ep3 (can't say i didn't give it a chance) but who am I to say it was "bad" when it gets an S2....
