why did cartoon network take off Trigun to show more Lupin III reruns?

Probably they ran out of airings of it and/or didn't want it to get stale

Cartoon Network tends to swap out their anime from time to time so as to avoid programs becoming stale. They'll let Trigun run a few times, then swap it out for Lupin III, then swap Lupin III out for, say, Blue Gender after a couple runs.
This way they get more "mileage" out of their shows. If Trigun were a permanent fixture, people would complain about lack of variety and Adult Swim would have less places to put new shows when they arise. |
