A little under a month ago, I asked in the feedback forum if it was alright for me to start a thread on Doujinshi. Since I have an actual question about it right now, I thought it was a good time to begin.
While I realize of course that titles in gratuitous English (So-called Engrish) are often totally undiscernable, I wanted to ask if anyone else has seen the Bleach doujinshi 'European the Uppermost.' My copy of it reads that the circle behind it was RESTORE, and claims it was the second one (the phrase they used to describe that fact was '2st fanbook', seriously.) Does anyone have any idea what this title could mean? At all? The Doujinshi is a short (clean) story involving Ichigo and Rukia hanging out and just having fun. The title seems utterly irrelevant. Thank you! |

Engrish in doujinshi is infamous when they add it to their covers, and you're pretty spot on in your guess that the 2st fanbook = second doujinshi. Fanbook is pretty much the English equivalent to the word doujinshi in a sense.
You best bet on finding out out the circle's other works, particularly their Bleach stuff would be looking up their website (sometimes they post this in the final couple pages of "Free talk" in the doujinshi" or asking people on doujinshi collector forums, particularly Bleach doujinshi forums, if they know anything. Doing a quick search I found a doujin collector's site that lists a Bleach doujin by RESTORE called Yume Ura. Depending on the year of your doujin, this could be their first, or another one they did after. |

Thank you so much for finding that for me! That date is actually after European the Uppermost. By the way, as well as including that title in Roman characters on the back, it's in Katakana on the front.
There's no free talk so to speak, but there is a bit of a colophon in the back that they tried to make look like ones that would be found in mainstream books/manga. However, there actually was web address in it, but I get a 404 error from it. There's an email in the back...do you think I should try writing them an email (presumably in Japanese), or is that a bit too weird? Thanks again! |
