Oh. man thanks FUNImation. I would be happier if this was an ACTUALLY good anime, rather than this but that's awesome. Why couldn't Eden of the East or Sengoku Basara get this treatment.

Gantz is in no way, shape, or form, a "classic".

Says you. I thought it was an awesome anime, it sucked that the anime caught up with the manga too quickly.

I've already shown my excitement for this news in the Retail Forum, so I'll leave that at that.

However, everyone is still curious as to whether blu-ray releases will be getting this same treatment. So, Lance, is there any word yet as to if BD will be getting this lovely treatment as well? Or something similar?

heard about this the other day and it sounded pretty darn awesome
I just hope people actually buy the premium sets and whatnot so there wont be alot of overstock in Funimation's warehouse.
It'd be a shame if we finally get the nice stuff to come back, only to have it be for nothing.

But if Funimation feels they're stable enough to take this risk, then I'll trust they're judgement

I will definately support this. I have been complaining about the cardstock boxes since ...Aquarion? Little did I know then that it would be a long haul of no special editions. I've already pre-ordered Kuroshitsuji, and Sacred Blacksmith. I am very excited about this.

The premium item could also be a more elaborate, more intricate collectible rigid box design. Call it the "extra fancy" version.

The list is based on titles that are the best example of a certain anime genre in addition to past sales performance of the title and fandom reaction throughout the years.

I'm so excited for this and I'm really happy the timing worked out for Black Butler's release. Smile

Gantz's manga is a bestseller for Dark Horse, so it doesn't surprise me Funi wants to give it a deluxe re-release. ADV's last release was pretty elaborate too. From what I recall, on AnimeonDVD speculates Gantz will have a steel case http://www.mania.com/funimation-details-new-packaging-policy-price-increase_article_125949.html though I don't think Lance confirmed it.

Premium items are nice Smile Though I'm glad to see a return of chunky cardboard/chipboard artboxes. I assume that it'll be an artbox that can hold the two cardstock boxes w/2 thinpaks each.

I'm definitely there for the Phantom and Black Butler sets. I like the idea of the sturdy boxes. That is the sell for me.

Ever since hearing the news yesterday, I've been in a constant state of happiness. Glad to hear the boxes are coming back; I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on one (especially an "extra fancy box". God I love creative boxes). Art FTW!

Anime Classics sounds awesome too, even if nothing about it is confirmed. Nyahaha-ha!

Awesome stuff, any chance we might see a re-release set of Mushishi? I was enjoying the dubs until it got pulled from streaming. I love my Pumpkin Scissors S.A.V.E. set, and I've been eyeing the Gankutsuou set...
