Hey has anyone got recommendations for these genres.

I've seen a few like:

school rumble
Love hina series
sister princess series - regretted it HA!
Initial D series
Maybe more.....

This is according to ANN's database descriptions.

I would like recommendations thats like school rumble...you know funny throughout the series, slice of life, romance?......not too serious. I'm really getting into anime like these.

Picky no? haha. Please help.

Edit: Stuff similar to school rumble.

I don't know how Initial D fits in with those, but for other light-hearted series, you could try Futakoi -- one guy, lots of twin girls, pretty much a fluffy (relatively pointless) comedy series.

Ichigo 100% - a boy, a filmmaking dream, and an obsession with strawberry-print panties. Many cute girls, plenty of fanservice, rarely serious.

Azumanga Daioh is a big entry in this field (and unlike the other two, available on R1 DVD) - six high school girls, their teacher, and crazy random adventures through all three years of school.

You could also try Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu - it's a collection of side stories that builds on the first Full Metal Panic! series, and it drew lots of laughs from my school's anime club this past semester. Some surreal elements, like slapstick violence, explosions, but no worse than Love Hina.

EDIT: I haven't seen Initial D, so I'll admit that that statement was made in ignorance. Another series that is slice-of-life without romantic comedy is Piano -- there is some romance, but it's not comedic. Compared to the other ones I've listed, Piano is probably the least outlandish SOL show that I own.

I've said many a time that Initial D is closest to a "slice of life" series as you can get in anime without a romantic comedy plot.

It's really very simple reasoning, too. The characters are all very normal people. They have a remarkable talent for their hobby, but there's nothing remarkable about them. Their situations are all everyday situations, and their reactions are all of everyday people.

When you see Iketani, Takumi, Itsuki, and Kenji, you get the feeling that you know the characters. So familiar are their mannerisms, so commonplace are their activities, that it seems you probably bumped into them pumping gas at your gas station.

That's slice of life at its finest.

Azumanga Daioh follows a bunch (6 or 8) girls through high school. Sadly it was too short a series IMO (26 episodes I think). Very funny, and beware the OMG cuteness.

FMP Fumoffu, my roommate maintains that either this or School Rumble is the funniest Anime ever. It is very very funny.

Karin might also be similar (although with a vampire spin), watch the first couple and see what you think.

Narue Sekai (World of Narue) has a bit of Scifi in it but mostly revolves around middle school romance.

DNAngel has some slice of life humor, however I'd label this more of a romance with some action.

The best Slice of life recently Honey and Clover

Also dont forget the clasics as Kimagure Orange Road
or
Touch

(Tho the last two might be considered more romantic comedys)

I can't believe GTOhasn't been mentioned yet. This is easily my favorite comedy/slice of life series. The characters all have their own quirks, and the interaction between them and Onizuka is one of the most uplifiting experiences I've come across. There is also a great balance of comedy, drama, and romance; a little something for just about everyone.

The dub is horrible, so I suggest you go with the sub version. The dub re-uses too many voices for different characters, the voices themselves aren't even good, and they changed some of the dialogue to make it more raunchy and vulgar for American audiences. I guarantee you'll like it in Japanese, at least a little. I say this because I know you've already seen School Rumble Wink. Good luck.

Not sure either Love Hina or School Rumble could be termed slice of life [1]. However, if you do like comedies and funny light romances then you could try the following:

You're under Arrest! is a light comedy about Tokyo traffic cops. Not much serious crime, but plenty of funny characters and relationship dramas.

Ichigo Mashimaro (Strawberry Marshmallows) is a very cute and funny series about a bunch of 12 year old girls and the world weary 20-year old sister of one of them. Not really much romance in it but still worth a watch.

Kodomo no Omocha (Kodocha for short) is another comedy series about young kids. Class warfare between boys and girls, hyperactive heroine, cool and collected "bad guy" mixed with surprisingly touching drama.

Genshiken takes it's name from an anime/manga/games otaku club at a Tokyo university. Possibly the best otaku comedy out there. Never condescending and really funny, it has a normal girl acting as the foil for all the jokes and explanations about otakudom.

If you want to try something a bit older you can try Maison Ikkoku. Widely considered a classic, it might still be a bit slow for your tastes.

Of the various shows already recommended I'll second GTO, Azumanga and Honey & Clover.

[1] Yeah, I know, I know, in the encyclopedia some fool put those two shows down as slice of life in the genre description. They are not realistic enough to be called slice of life.

Althou having a girl for your right hand is very um.... not common. The rest of the plot in Midori Days is very "slice of life" and it's a very sweet but not over sugared anime. One of my favs and with only 3 discs gives you a very big bang for you buck.

Thanks guys for helping.

I've got midori no hibi but just didn't put it on the list cause yea having a little girl as your hand isn't really possible, it would look pretty gruesome too if it did happen in real life.
