It's a shame TMS changed the opening to CoC.

Hmm, they re-released Castle of Cagliostro, huh? Unlike with Patlabor movies and Bubblegum Crisis, I think I'll stick with the original DVD. Anyway, while CoC is a beautiful anime movie, it's one of the weaker Lupin III movies, in my opinion. Why? Because Lupin doesn't act like Lupin usually does. He's too sugar-coated. Lupin is supposed to be a lecherous near-rapist with no qualms about killing his enemies if he has to, especially in the manga (where the naked bodies and the dead bodies stack up pretty high at times). Monkey Punch's Lupin III is not in CoC, that's for sure.

Also, about the thirteenth Dragon Ball Z movie: I think that they weren't really explaining where Trunks got his sword, but that now the Trunks of this timeline had a sword similar to the one Future Trunks did, so timelines can be somewhat the same. It couldn't very well be the same sword, since technically Future Trunks comes from an alternate universe, and not from the same timeline as the show.

But with the plotholes of the movies, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually forgot that.

I haven't seen this movie or any Lupin III movies, but this is Hayao Miyazaki here, what do you expect?

About how to handle remarks about anime sounds like a good way to defend your hobby, but i don't think it would work for everyone. Saying something like that wouldn't really match my personality and people would find it awfully strange. If i tried saying that i would look like a bad actress.

However if some of my friends said that, it would fit perfectly.

Well, as one of the roughly 18 people who enjoyed Someday's Dreamers (Zac sure didn't), I'd have to say that I am enjoying Kamichu! as each volume comes out. It's light-hearted fantasy fun, and though random, many elements come into place as the viewer will predict. Sometimes though, I'm not sure if it's wholesome family entertainment or otaku-pandering moe fodder, at least in the beach episode. However, Kamichu! is definitely closer in feel to something like Spirited Away than to more otaku-oriented kawaii material like Bottle Fairy.

What? A touching series I've never heard of? This cannot be!! I suppose I have heard of Chance Pop Session, but only vaguely, and in passing. The thinpack looks tempting (and I've got some ideas for that song lyrics contest), but the single discs seem to have some interesting extras. Then again, the thinpack has the advantage of having a box...decisions, decisions.
And yes, FMwS probably will make anyone without a heart of stone cry, though maybe not so much in the episodes currently available on DVD.

Back when I read Carlo Santos' review of EG DVD 1, I decided that it was one of those shows that I didn't want to see, ever. However, pretty much any seasoned fan can name about 5 other series where the male lead finds some mysterious, "innocent" girl who has some kind of special significance / powers. (Outlaw Star, Chobits, Elfen Lied, This Ugly yet Beautiful World, and DearS, to name a few.) Seasoned fans will also pick up some of the animation shortcuts, like stills and speedlines during fight scenes and when Cou dodges booby traps. The pie was priceless, though Laughing

But hey, Sky Pirates, grappling hooks, and Cisqua's antics are worth watching, so I'll be watching EG with that friend as he collects the DVDs. Besides, only in anime, and particularly in anime like this, will you hear the line, "What was the deal with those ninjas on the pirate ship?"

I acutally just bought the Chance Pop Session box set a week ago at Anime Evolution. I had seen the first episode through Newtype and decided to just go for it. I'm glad I bought it. Sure though random backdrop video thingys got annoying but the series was enjoyable none the less. Good music too.

Make that 19! I thought it was a wonderfully warm and enjoyable series. Too short though. It felt rushed.

The manga, however, I found disappointing.

This review makes me think I should give Kamichu! a chance.

Chance Pop Session sounds like a good series but the art style is making me feel angry for some reason. It repels.

I'd like to add a comment on Kodocha. The episodes on these two volumes are pretty much stand-alones, but they tie up a lot of loose ends from earlier in the series. If you haven't picked them up yet run out and buy them! Buying the Babbit Box release is cheaper than buying the indivdual DVDs and you get a Babbit plushie too!

I never had the chance to see the originally CoC but with this new version I am quite excitied to see this title.....I wonder if Netflix is going to pick up this new "Special Edition" since the regular edition isn't available on Netflix anymore.

How different are we talking here? Are the differences the sames as the Director version of Samurai (Trust & Betrayal) and the regular release?

I had originally hope to see CoC (original) some time ago but suddenly it was removed from Queue (on Netflix) and then placed into Saved.....meaning that it's not available anymore......I wonder if my local Blockbuster still has it, damn I haven't been to a B&M rental place in quite sometime...

The opening credit sequence has been changed. Originally it retained japanese credits and was animated, however now it's still shots with English-language credits of the Japanese staff. Apparently this is because TMS provided manga Ent with an Anamorphic master, and wanted their team to be represented that way.

Was that the only difference? Pretty stupid reason to not pick it up if that was. I was actually looking forward to this release wince I hear it is a "classic". I love Lupin anime since I saw it on [as] and look forward to purchasing the movie boxes in a couple of months.

I also remember references that were made towards it like on FLCL when the dad was acting like Lupin and changed jackets because it was the CoC version.

I think it's cool how depending on the director, Lupin gets a different color coat... Are there more than 2 directors? If so, how many colors?

Imagine if the openings for Nausicaa and Laputa were reduced to a series of stills. Anyway, I'm keeping the old disc. If I had known the Streamline dvd was the only way to see Mamo uncut, I would have bought that too.

There are a variety of them, actually. The directors for Black Jack and Excel Saga have directed some of the movies.
