Sad to see it go, I went there in 2018 and 2024. In 2018, it was one of the best in Aki. In 2024, it was a shell of its former self. As stated by the article, Covid played a major role in hurting the arcade scene in Japan. Maybe one day it will return.

Not sure if I am correct, just sounds like their lease expired, and someone else acquired it and intends to use it for the same purpose as the outgoing lease holder.

That is accurate, but I think there is the implication to take from it that Gigo would have renewed the lease if business was going as well as it wanted. It's easier for everyone to renew than to move out. Add in the optics of this particular arcade being something of a landmark, and someone unrelated coming in to do a similar business still seems like a sign of the times.

Amusement facility largely translates to Pachinko in Japan... if it is the replacement, it's a sad day
While #1 being gone, #3 is better anyway as it has most of the same games anyways, plus the more unique RETRO floor, if memory serves me correct.
