I've always felt that if I somehow became incredibly wealthy, rather than spending money on being vile to people I'd fund all the anime I wanted. The second season of Flowers of Evil. The second season of Stars Align, The second season of Kamisama Dolls, and a full length adaptation of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. Things like that, As well as other good deeds.
Sadly, I am not even slightly wealthy, so this remains a pipe-dream.

I find the disdain in "live-action manga adaptations" discussions a bit weird because there have always been live-action adaptations of manga. There have been so many films based on the series as well as television dramas. I also can't help but make the comparison with how popular K-dramas have been lately, and with J-dramas based on manga getting even more popular internationally, that might have encouraged Kodansha to pursue it further.

Adapting more grounded works is probably the best initial move to prove their pipeline system works without spending a small fortune on what it would take for a live action Seven Deadly Sins. It would also result in a lot less eye rolling over who gets cast as Elizabeth.

What would distinguish a Vagabond live-action adaptation from a direct adaptation of the source material, Eiji Yoshikawa's novel Musashi?

| Quote: | | But to avoid those Marvel-esque pitfalls, I believe Kodansha Studios should avoid trying to adapt any of the publishers' greatest titles. AKIRA, Attack on Titan, Ghost in the Shell, Vinland Saga—all off the table. |
Sadly I do not think they will have the impulse control to stop themselves from doing Attack On Titan. It just feels like too much of a slam dunk: it's recent (enough) to have a built-in audience, it has a bunch of big action setpieces with chances for the CGI Hollywood loves to throw at the screen, and it gives them the opportunity to cast a bunch of white people without having some kind of Scarlett Johansson Ghost In The Shell whitewashing mini-controversy. The only real roadblock I see with it, and it is a pretty big one, would be the extremely awkward racial stuff in the later parts. But if they just do one movie, they wouldn't have to worry about any of that.
