Amane had been consulting Hololive Productions about her work-related issues for several years, but "resolving them would have required a fundamental review of the organization's internal structure."

Chat, is it bad if my employer has fundamental and systemic issues that HR can't or won't address?

Haven't paid much attention to Hololive or Vtubers in general for years, but it is surprising to me that it's Kanata who's next to quit. Figured it would have happened years ago after Coco quit, and for it to not then she was fine with her new normal.

You know this is not mentioned in the article nor specifically mentioned in the English post on X, so anyone who doesn't know much about Kanata won't know about it, right?

You know, I'm having a hard time finding anything that indicates the condition is impossible to accommodate for, so it reads to me that Kanata is being told "We don't hire disabled people."

I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors, even if it's not as a VTuber.

She was there for 6 years and they knew she had it when she was onboarded.

I've seen many articles and videos going with the "overworked" angle, and though there is some truth in that and Kanata herself even admits it, that statement definitely requires context.

A major factor is her own health, which I don't think is mentioned anywhere in the statements regarding her graduation. Kanata did share that the workload and schedule did affect her health, or that her health condition made it difficult to accomplish her tasks, but she also wanted to make it clear that the company has tried to and is continuing to improve things behind the scenes to address the issue. She also admitted that that some of the workload issue was self-imposed, as there were projects she really wanted to complete while she was with Hololive. And to make this point clear, she even went out of the way to say that "issues with management" or "burnout" were not factors as to why she's graduating as doctors and management even suggested that she slow things down.

Personally it sounds like she knew her health would eventually make it nearly impossible to continue to work at Hololive, so she pushed herself and did as much as she could while she still can, hence the "overworked" statement.

Yeah, I think this is one where the official statement didn't give enough detail. While it is accurate that there was overwork, that wasn't the whole story. The Japanese talents that have left recently after being there since the the early days have mentioned that things have gotten beyond what they feel like they signed up for originally, and have since gone independent and scaled back what they do. But plenty are still there. Kanata is a bit different in that she flat out said she will not be vtubing anymore and find a different job. Her health is a factor, and it seems she decided that she didn't want to keep vtubing if she was going to be limited that way. I can appreciate that doing what you like to do at partial capacity could be more frustrating than not doing it at all.

Health issues can't always be accommodated for, at least not realistically. One of the big factors Sana quit was due to a back injury which made it hard for her to sit for prolonged periods of time which makes it very hard to stream especially with a vtuber rig. I'm sure Hunter x Hunter fans know how that can be with creators with back issues.

Hololive may not be a perfect company but they've been very accommodating of their talents extraordinary situations in the past for years from Haachama's year-long breaks or as recent as Korone going on hiatus to care for her mother's health issues. The idea this is just them firing a disabled person after finding out seems quite malicious and unfounded. Kanata's condition has been known since she started when she went on hiatus in the past before. And the fact she's flat out quitting vtubing in general and getting a 'real job' is pretty damning that her condition has gotten to the point she can't do it anymore.

Don't really think the Hunter x Hunter comparison really works since I and others would be fine if Togashi received more help with completing the series rather than himself sitting there for hours and enduring pain just to get maybe 10 chapters done every two years. There are ways to work around it, just none involving him doing as much work as he'd prefer to do.

And from what I remember, granted I didn't pay much attention to EN even back then, I thought management tried to accommodate Sana but she herself was unwilling to continue? I have no clue about the Kanata stuff aside from what has been posted in this article, but if the main issue is genuinely, "Kanata voiced her problems for months, but to accommodate her we'd need to make drastic changes internally" that says more about the company being unwilling to accommodate her than it being because of her health. Especially when not every member streams or participates in real life activities the same amount.
