Why are there two manga adaptations of the same story -_- Kadokawa's management of this property hasn't made any sense from day 1. I'm just happy there's a new volume of the actual light novel series coming out.

WOW no one really does not want to adapt volume 4 and 5 of NGNL or the game of gods/mario party arc and after for this franchise

I’m enjoying this adaptation. I like Naitou’s art a bit better than Kamiya’s (somewhat less attention to fan service, more attention to the game logic).
I would love to see more of the series adapted, though I’m afraid I fell off the novels after volume six or seven.

It's a sequel, not a parallel adaptation, the second one continues pretty much from where the first one left, just with different artist.

Oh, I see, well that's different. I'm still a little miffed over the side works that Kadokawa distracted Kamiya with instead of letting him focus on his light novels -- the manga (originally drawn by his wife), plus the side manga about Izuna. When you read how overworked he was by these projects and deadlines, while dealing with cancer, it's hard not to be. The production of the anime distracted him quite a bit too. But I guess the manga and anime serve as advertisements for the original story and perhaps help fund it, so maybe I shouldn't complain; I wouldn't even know about the light novels if it wasn't for the anime. Hopefully the new volume signals that Kamiya is doing well physically and getting his story writing mojo back.

I took a break from them for a while too around there, but I have just finished volume 8 which ends their first game against a god, and it's pretty mental (even more than the average game in NGNL). Perhaps it goes on a bit long, but then no one would expect it to be quick or easy to win a game against a god who can create a whole world for a game board.
