Was Kaguya-sama the first romcom to have hidden sides or something? Rolling Eyes It doesn't seem even remotely similar

On the other hand, the summary sounds almost exactly like Kare Kano, which is probably the earliest well-known example of this plot structure. But that's okay, because a strong execution of an established concept can be just as good as the most novel premise.
