Honestly, Casshern SINS was an amazing reboot of the series, I'm interested to see what they do with it now.

Indeed it was. A solid 10/10 masterpiece in my book. Hopefully we'll hear more about this project soon... really like the key visual a lot. |

Wait, the animation studio that is doing Casshan 2045 is in Singapore and not in Japan? Oh wow, this is going to make "what is anime" debate more interesting. I know MAL, Anilist, and AniDB may not categorize this and the new Ninja Scroll animation from the same studio as an anime because of where it's going to be animated, and this is going to be comparable to the lost 1990's American animated adaptation of Saint Seiya.

I'm speaking under correction here, my understanding is that Kasagi Labo isn't actually a animation studio but more the production management, So they'll hire animation studios and have them create something, while funding them too. Special Kid Factory & GATE 2 are both their products and are listed on all 3 DB's so there isn't a problem as long as it follows the specific rules each has set. |

I checked around on the database like MAL and AniDB, they do count it as anime, but they don't list Kasagi Lobo as the main studio. That's the problem. I don't want to derail the whole thing, and the definition has become more confusing for the last I think 10+ years. I'll tell you what, I'll explain everything via the PM, I'll talk to you on there. |

I just watched the 1973 series some weeks ago and really enjoyed it. For the time I feel the drama and its themes actually worked quite well. Still very cheesy, but by far not as silly as say Gatchaman.
I'm gonna keep an eye out for this one. |

I don't like Sins, but maybe someone can put it and the 73 show on 4k for the anniversary in two years. Also, DT also briefly licensed the OAV. Also, I wish someone would rescue the live-action movie.

Singapore just calls them cartoons. I could be wrong, but I know that they don't create what we know as anime. |

A new Casshan anime in this day and age? I'm curious how the Yoshitaka Amano character designs will adapt when they're also revamping the classic designs.

Gatchaman was an innovative masterpiece that completely outclassed the super robot genre of its era. Having watched virtually every super robot series up to their decline in 1984, I can confidently say that Gatchaman (which debuted back in 1972) eclipsed them all. It offered superior drama, better character development, and lore with actual consequences. The profound insight, spirituality, and themes of rebirth in the Gatchaman Fighter ending can easily be compared to Space Runaway Ideon: Be Invoked or Mobile Suit Gundam. For a sci-fi/super sentai pioneer, it was truly ahead of its time. As for other Tatsunoko works, Casshan is easily my second favorite, while Tekkeman sits at the bottom of my list. |
