I think the naff CG & creepy mannequins tell you why they haven't built a AOT roller coaster. Those things are like those nightmare if anime characters, barbie dolls etc were real mock ups.

The picture with Luffy, Naruto and Ichigo on the pirate ship was pretty cool but I don't think I'd go anywhere near those Attack on Titan areas, let alone consider riding a rollercoaster based on it...

I don't understand - the train went the same direction on both tracks? Or one track that always runs in that direction regardless of which side you board from (which it would have to if there's only one track for the whole line, which itself doesn't make sense)? Was there never a train going the opposite direction? Sounds like you had a good time though. For me, the whole thing sounds like the stuff of nightmares. Crowds and lines I do not do well with. Also, $15 for a ham sandwich and a potato, even a Sasha-approved one. I wonder why they don't adopt the Disney Fast Pass (or whatever it's called) where you get a ticket and a time so you can go buy stuff while you're waiting for your turn? The coupon thing seemed like a run at that idea, but executed in a way guaranteed to piss people off. I haven't been to a Disney park in 20 years though, so I don't know how well that works in practice. |

If I had to guess, I would probably say that Hello Kitty is seen as a universal character; She's a beloved Japanese character but not something that's seen as distinctly Japanese. Or, maybe, since the Cool Japan initiative is trying to promote Japanese culture, it's automatically assumed Hello Kitty needs more worldwide promotion like a hole in the head and so leaves the brand off the list. |

Gotta make it down to Osaka for USJ one of these days. Likely the only time I would be able to go would be during a long weekend though. =/
Also I think lines would only be slightly shorter on a regular weekday. There's always people out and about on weekdays, which makes you wonder when they actually work. |

Enjoyed the old Eva ride there, and sounds like they've completely updated it for the new version. The intro with Gendo & Seele sounds the same.
You really need the fastpass for some of the rides. I think this was how we did Eva without waiting a ridiculous time before. Only problem is that these can sell out very early in the day (same for Harry Potter). |

I went last year and really enjoyed the cool japan exhibit. The line was no different (pretty sure we went on a week day too) so it just might be a peak cherry blossom season thing with the lines - pretty sure the Eva line was 3hrs for us too. Japan all over is the land of the line ride - I think the only line thats come close to that was Universal Studios in Singapore for the Jurrasic park ride

I went to USJ twice during the summer of 2014 (went with different people) both times during a weekday and I only had one two-hour line, which was for the recently opened Harry Potter ride. In fact, lines were such a non-issue (still being long most of the time, but rarely over an hour) that I was able to ride all the main attractions both times (except for the main giant rollercoaster because I wasn't feeling brave the first time and the second time there was actually a typhoon so the outdoor attractions were out of order).
If we saw a line with a huge-ass waiting time (the hippogriff thing always seemed to have a 3-hour+wait) we'd just try something less crowded and by the time we came back, the long line was significantly reduced. The EVA and Titan things weren't there at the time, so maybe they have increased the influx of visitors? I'm disappointed to hear the Attack on Titan attraction isn't an actual rollercoaster, that would've been really cool |

That does look kind of disappointing. Not that much to offer for Shingeki really. Then the wait time would kill it for me. Loved those pics!
Glad I skipped going to this on Halloween in 2014. I mean sure zombies would've been cool, but after reading admission, like 5 rides and what? Then the wait times. Nope. I had more fun checking out costumes in Namba anyway. WAY more fun. I'd opt for any other amusement park there and get a day pass. I wonder if that Shingeki art exhibit is still on. I went to that and that was really cool. Had more going for it I think. Totally yes to the Sunday crowds in general for anything and vowed to not go out much on Sunday in general. Crowds were just GAH. When I went another year in Golden Week, that was a treat, even MORE people. |

I definitely have to go to USJ some day well that and the one in Orlando the only theme park I have ever been to is Paramounts Kings Island which is still fun but definitely not as good as it used to be.

Well, Universal US is the park that gave us Butterbeer and Green Eggs & Ham. Nice to see that their talent for theming snacks as a necessary part of sharing the experience ("The sandwich made with the ham Sasha stole") extends across the Pacific. You know some fans back here are looking jealously at the Drink Plugs.
Hey, the Hollywood Waterworld show was good! (I remember it when it was still Miami Vice.) Liked the Backdraft show, too, although the Florida park only had the Twister show. |
