Adult Swim Removes Moribito from Weekend Schedule (Updated)

Takes effect this weekend with most other anime moved up; 2nd Inuyasha added

America's Adult Swim television network has removed the Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (Seirei no Moribito) adventure anime series from its schedule for this weekend. The last episode to run was episode 10 last weekend. The anime series is also missing from Adult Swim's schedule for the next three months. Instead, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 and the rest of the anime programs after it have been rescheduled one half hour earlier, and a second weekly episode of Inuyasha has been added.

The Moribito anime adapts Nahoko Uehashi's intricately detailed fantasy novel about a spearwoman who protects a prince from his own father and other enemies. The North American publisher Scholastic published the novel in English last June. Media Blasters picked up the distribution rights for the anime from Geneon Entertainment, and Bang Zoom! Entertainment has been dubbing the episodes since before its August television premiere.

Update: Media Blasters CEO John Sirabella notes on the AnimeonDVD forums that his company picked up the DVD distribution of the series after the television deal was done. "This is a matter between [Cartoon Network] and the producers. If they can work it out, then we will be happy to do the work so it can get the remaining episodes on TV. Otherwise, we will handle the DVD distribution." Thanks, Herbkir.
