Japanese Animation DVD Ranking, August 31-September 6

The standard edition DVD for Yukihiko Tsutsumi's second live-action film based on Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys suspense manga stayed at #1 for a second straight week. It sold 11,000 copies to add to its total of 28,000. The last time that a manga-based film release stayed on top for two weeks was the Death Note/Death Note The Last Name Complete Set in April of 2007, two and a half years ago. The standard edition for comedian Hiroshi Shinagawa's live-action film adaptation of his own semi-autobiographical Drop novel rose back up from #6 to #2. However, the special edition fell from #14 to #18. The "Take It Easy!" video single from Buono! placed at #17.
